2025!

Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a relaxing break, got to catch up on sleep (I did!), and visit with loved ones. We are into the 3rd cardmarking period and report cards will be coming home Friday.

This week, our reading logs are nonfiction. I’ve sent home Scholastic News for your child to read and use for their reading log. The articles are available on google classroom, which your child knows how to get to. The online versions will read aloud to you if wanted, this counts as reading too. Use multiple articles or one article for the reading log this week.

We are starting unit 5 in ELA, which is also nonfiction, we will be creating an opinion piece of writing during this unit. This week in Science, we are starting our Vision and Light unit which is looking at animal senses. Next week, in Social Studies we will be starting and working on the 3 branches of government.

Math is a little wonky. This week we will complete Topic A in Module 6 and take a quiz. On Friday, we will begin Module 3 and continue the next 8 weeks with multiplication and division. I would like the students to bring their module 6 books back to class and we will keep them safe here until we can get back to module 6.

This month our SEL topic is Optimism, please check out the details on the blog page which you can find above. If you have any questions, send me a message.

This Week

We are working on Module 6 Topic A this week and the week we get back from winter break. We will start Module 3 January 13. The students miss out on Geometry at the end of the year, so we thought we would break up the module and give the students a chance to learn about lines.

Two reading logs have been sent home along with reading material. Scholastic News is also available to the students (audio available!) on google classroom. I don’t like to send homework over break but reading is different than regular homework and it’s important to keep practicing.

Please join us for Our December PTA meeting on Thursday at 8:45 AM in the STEM cafeteria. We hope to see you here!

I hope everyone had a great break and time to visit and eat. We only have three weeks until our next break AND report cards.

Respect is our character trait of the month. There will be a school spirit week the 3rd week of December.

Make sure your child has a hat and gloves for recess; coats are necessary, but a hat and gloves really keep the chill away.
