Homework

Every day your child has to read for 20 minutes AND respond  to their reading with 1 sentence (the sentence stem is provided).

Most days, your child will have math homework and 2 – 5 problems to do.

This weekend, please check your child’s planner and folder to see what needs to be completed or kept at home.

Good Monday Morning!

Don’t forget to complete the daily covid screener before bringing or sending your child to school.

Green Team

During our last meeting we talked about what we will be doing over the next few months. The students took a survey to determine their interest for the next activity. They have decided to make composters. However, I am concerned because we have had a week of virtual learning that we won’t have enough supplies for everyone. So I will also have a birdfeeder project ready if the composter one fall through.

We will also be voting on our endangered animal to adopt.

Please bring in 2 liter bottles for our compost project and empty toilet paper rolls for our bird feeder project.

Don’t forget PICK UP is at the PLAYGROUND DOOR at 5 PM.

A Couple of Reminders

Return to In-Person Learning

On Monday, October 18 we will return to in-person learning. To keep us healthy and in school, we need the support of our families to complete the daily covid screener before bringing or sending your child to school. Our staff also screens themselves daily before entering the school building. If you are ever unsure, it is better to keep them out and have them tested before returning to school. If you see any of these symptoms, please use care: cough, fever, shortness of breath, upset stomach, headaches, runny nose, congestion, and/or body aches are all symptoms that should be taken seriously.

Free rapid tests are available daily in the district at the following locations:

Salina Intermediate: Monday -Thursday 7:00am-8:00pm and 3:30 pm-4:30 pm .

Fordson High: Monday – Thursday from 7:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. AND 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Edsel Ford High: Monday – Thursday from 6:40 a.m. – 7:40 a.m. AND 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Dearborn High: Monday – Thursday from 3:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

For any students who are sent home during the school day with developing symptoms, a test continues to be required for re-entry into school. No exceptions. Likewise, if your child is identified as a close contact and is required to quarantine, all guidelines provided by the principal or covid nurses must be completed prior to return. It is critical that you notify the school if your child tests positive so that we can complete contact tracing. Please know that a person with covid can be contagious for a couple of days prior to the onset of symptoms. All of these measures are important to keep our school healthy and keep us in school. If you have questions please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Fournier at 313-827-7004.

A Couple of Things…

If you want to, I have put a materials pick-up by the playground door (15) in a box. It has copies made for your child for this week, work we have have been doing in class, and their benchmark magazine. Having copies in hand makes life easier for our age group and not everyone has a printer at home.

If you need a chromebook, come up to school and pick one up from the office, ring the bell at the playground door (15).

Tomorrow, I will put the meeting links on Schoology and here until we adjust to Schoology.

Schoology: Dearborn Public Schools website then Student Portal then online learning tools then click on Schoology and follow those directions. Have your child practice logging on today, email me if there are any issues, and we can trouble shoot together.

I know switching to home school can be stressful, but this week will fly by, we will adjust, and work through things together as best we can.

Good Morning!

I am going to miss seeing your child in-person this week. I will send updates as I learn more information, I will also send this information to your child’s email. If you need anything, send me an email and I will get back to you as promptly as I can.
