Music Expectations and Assessments

Below are the expectations for music class and the music assessments given to every student.  These assessments are used for our grades in music class.

Rhythmic Accuracy

Student is learning to echo patterns. Student echoes some of the pattern accurately but out of context of tempo and meter. Student echoes entire pattern with minor errors such as hesitating or small inconsistencies with tempo and meter. Student echoes pattern accurately within the context of tempo and meter.

 

1st Grade

Rhythmic Notation Accuracy Student needs help to compose measure. Composes measure with  more than 1 error. Composes measure with one error. Composes 1 measure rhythm with no mistakes.

Beat

Performance Accuracy

Student does not keep a steady beat or is only able to be successful with help from the teacher. Student does not keep the beat as demonstrated by the teacher or has major inconsistencies such as speeding up, slowing down or hesitating. Student keeps the beat as demonstrated by the teacher but has minor inconsistencies such as speeding up, slowing down or hesitating. Student keeps the beat as demonstrated by the teacher.
Syllable Accuracy Student does not  perform or only performs with help from the teacher Student speaks the composition using rhythmic syllables with major errors Student speaks the composition using rhythmic syllables with minor errors. Student speaks the composition using rhythmic syllables with no errors.
