6th grade classes learned about family vocabulary, body vocabulary & culture in Spanish. We played Jeopardy as a review. Please make sure to have all supplies (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Spanish packet). All pages in the packet should be complete by the day of the test. I have also assigned Quizlet online homework. Students have written this information in their planners. Quizlet assignments can be made up. Please have students email me when they are completed. Students in B day will have their test on Friday, March 3rd and students in A day will have their test on Monday, March 6th. Students will begin German next week focusing on greetings, culture, and numbers.

Please make sure you are checking student planners daily to see what is due the following day we meet. Also, make sure you are on Quizlet.com the day that we do not meet (since we meet every other day). Quizlet.com will verify that you are continuously studying. If you are not able to do so, please email me at jedrzem@dearbornschools.org to verify the day that you were able to log on. If you are having difficulty logging in, please email me or send in a note with your child and he/she will be excused.

7th & 8th grade conversational Spanish classes: Students played Jeopardy to prepare for their first test that was on Tuesday. Students can retake exams up to an 80%. Retake day will be next Friday, March 10th. Please make sure to have your supplies: pencil, red pen, folder, 2 notebooks, thin dry erase marker and planner. We began unit 1 which covered additional school supply vocabulary and grammar concepts. We will play Jeopardy and have the test next week because this is a short unit! 🙂

Please make sure that quizlet.com is being completed daily. Check Grade Book to make sure points are being provided. Email me with any concerns. I check quizlet.com every evening to see student study progress.

8th yearlong Spanish classes will have their Ch. 4 vocab 1 quiz on Monday, March 6th. They learned to ask and answer questions about school supplies and classes. Students also learned about definite/indefinite articles, how much, a lot, a little, and tener expressions. Students will learn about culture and additional grammar concepts next week: venir (a+time). Grammar 1 quiz will be next Friday.

6th grade classes learned about days and months, colors, & culture in Spanish. Please make sure to have all supplies (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Spanish packet). I still need a couple more parents to email me information about their child as well. Pages that should be completed are 1-5. I have also assigned Quizlet online homework. Students have written this information in their planners. Quizlet assignments can be made up. Please have students email me when they are completed. The week after break, we will learn about Spanish body vocabulary and family vocabulary. We will play Jeopardy as a review. Students in B day will have their exam the Friday after break.

7th & 8th grade conversational Spanish classes learned about definite & indefinite articles, numbers, and completed speaking video activities with their partners. Please make sure to have your supplies: pencil, red pen, folder, 2 notebooks, thin dry erase marker and planner. Have parents email me if I have not received your information yet. Students will play Jeopardy and have their assessment the week after break. We will also begin unit 2 which will cover additional school supply vocabulary and grammar concepts.

8th yearlong Spanish classes completed their chapter 3 test this past Monday. We began learning about Costa Rica. They were tested today about cultural information. Students also learned new vocabulary in chapter 4 focusing on classes and class supplies. They will learn about indefinite articles and “how much, a little, & a lot” grammar rules the week after break.

6th grade classes learned about greetings and numbers in Spanish. B day learned about colors too. Please make sure to have all supplies (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Spanish packet). Please make sure to have your supplies: pencil, red pen, folder, 2 notebooks, thin dry erase marker and planner. Have parents email me if I have not received your information yet. Students will learn about numbers next week and have their assessment the week after break.

8th yearlong Spanish classes reviewed chapter three by completing a translation activity, chapter review, partner speaking video, and Jeopardy. Students will have their chapter 3 test on Monday because there was a sub in the room today. We will focus on Costa Rica and chapter 4 vocab 1 next week.

Welcome to a new semester/card marking period!

6th grade classes learned about PBIS expectations this week. Please make sure to have all supplies ready for next week (folder, thin dry erase marker, pencil, red pen, planner, and Spanish packet printed if you are able to). I still need more parents to email me information about their child as well. We will be starting Spanish next week. Homework will include pages 1-3 for B day and pages 1-2 for A day. I will also assign quizlet online homework. Students will write this information in their planners. Many thanks!

7th & 8th grade conversational Spanish classes went over PBIS expectations this week. Please make sure to have your supplies: pencil, red pen, folder, 2 notebooks, thin dry erase marker and planner. Have parents email me if I have not received your information yet. We learned the alphabet and greetings this week as well. Students will continue learning about greetings, Independence Day in Mexico and definite/indefinite articles next week.

8th yearlong Spanish classes finished up their grammar notes this week. We learned about conjugating -ar verbs as well as ir and jugar. Students took their Ch. 3 Vocab 2 quiz today. Weather google slides should be submitted and book work will be in the gradebook system this weekend. We will have our Ch. 3 test next Friday. Please continue studying and completing quizlet!

Today was the last day of semester classes. Students in my 1st hour Exploring Language class and 4th/5th hour Conversational Spanish classes will all have new classes on Monday which will also be a half day. Students completed exams this week and will have all their grades posted today.

Yearlong 8th grade Spanish students began working on conjugating verbs in the -ar forms. They will continue to learn new grammar concepts this week. They will have their vocabulary 2 quiz on chapter 3 this upcoming Friday. Have a great weekend!

6th grade: Students learned about days, months, and colors in ASL this week. I will review concepts with B day next week. If some students are not ready to take the test on Tuesday, we can wait until the next class. Student will have their ASL test and cultural food day the following week. Please think about a German, Spanish, French, or Arabic dish you would like to bring in and share with the class. B day has their ASL test on Monday. A day has their ASL test on Tuesday. Cultural food day for B day is on Wednesday. Cultural food day for A day is on Thursday.

7th grade & 8th grade Semester Conversational Spanish: Students learned tener expressions and how to use tu versus usted this week. Students will have their final exam on Wednesday, January 25th. We will also have cultural food day on Tuesday, January 24th.

8th grade Yearlong: Students completed their chapter 3 grammar 1 quiz. Students learned new verbs focusing mostly on nouns around the school. We will have our midterm on January 24th. Cultural food day will follow the day after.

6th grade: Students learned about letters, greetings and numbers this week. Some students remembered to come in and retake their Arabic assessments today during lunch. We will learn about days, months, and color in ASL this week. Student will have their test and cultural food day the following week. Please think about a German, Spanish, French, or Arabic dish you would like to bring in and share with the class.

7th grade & 8th grade Semester Conversational Spanish: Students learned frequency words and conjugated a variety of verbs this week. They completed their unit 6 test today. We will learn tener expressions and how to use tu versus usted the next week. Students will have their final exam the following week. We will also have cultural food day the last week.

8th grade Yearlong: Students completed their chapter 3 vocab 1 quiz and “Mis Amigos y Yo” project today after a week of grammar instruction. Students will learn new verbs focusing mostly on nouns around the school. We will have our grammar 1 quiz next Friday. The midterm will be on January 24th. Cultural food day will follow the day after.

6th grade: Students played Jeopardy this past week as a review and had their Arabic tests on Wednesday (B day) and Thursday (A day). Students in the B day class started the ASL alphabet. We will continue to learn about letters, greetings and numbers in ASL the week we return from break. Any student needing to retake the Arabic assessment, please be ready to come see me during lunch the Friday after break.

7th grade & 8th grade Semester Conversational Spanish: Students continued to learn about months and how to state a date. They also conjugated verbs and used them as infinitives when stating what they like to do. We will continue to review this after break. Students will also learn frequency words this upcoming week. Jeopardy will be on Thursday and the test will be the Friday we return from break.

8th grade Yearlong: Students will have their chapter 3 vocab 1 quiz when they return from break on Friday. The “Mis Amigos y Yo” project is due that day as well. Students will learn to use prepositions with infinitives as well as conjugate the verb “querer” this upcoming week. Make sure to continue studying. We will have the midterm soon!

6th grade: We learned about Arabic colors and culture this week. Hope you all had a great snow day on Monday! All pages in the Arabic packet should be complete. Students will play Jeopardy next week as a review and have their Arabic tests on Wednesday (B day) and Thursday (A day). Study study study this weekend! 🙂 Students in the B day class will start the ASL alphabet on Friday.

7th grade & 8th grade Semester Conversational Spanish: Students completed their unit 5 test yesterday. We will begin unit 6 learning about months and how to state a date. We will also learn to use the verb gustar with verbs next week. Next Friday, we will learn about Christmas in Mexico.

8th grade Yearlong: Students will have their quiz on Texas on Monday. The chapter 3 vocab 1 quiz will be next Thursday. Students will learn to use gustar with verbs this week. Make sure to study the many verbs we learned this week! We will learn about Christmas in Mexico next Friday. Enjoy your break!

6th grade: We learned about Arabic numbers, days and colors this week. Pages 1-3 in the Arabic packet should be complete. Page 4 should be complete by this weekend for B day. Students will continue to study culture next week. Study study study this weekend! 🙂

7th grade & 8th grade Semester Conversational Spanish: Students continued taking notes on unit 5 on seasons, weather, and likes. We will have our unit 4 test next Tuesday. Please study over the weekend.

8th grade Yearlong: Students completed a test on Thursday about Ch. 2. We started to learn about Texas culture, geography, people, etc. today. Next week, students will have their Geoculture quiz on Texas on Friday. Because of the assembly on Friday, 6th hour will have their assessment the day before. Please be prepared.
