OYO Assignment Lesson 5: Continue reading from our Benchmark book. Read pages 14 & 15 again. Complete the chart (make in your ELA notebook) from word found in paragraphs 8 & 10.

  1. You are completing your draft of your writing – 3 paragraphs on the document found on Schoology. Use the table to organize your points you will be discussing in your informational writing. THIS IS NOT AN OPINION PIECE. You MUST use the facts found in our multiple sources.

2. You will complete ReadWorks Article-A-Day activity (must have 5 done) and read for 30 minutes today

Open the link (below), review the vocabulary. ANY VOCAB THAT IS NEW NEEDS TO BE COPIED DOWN IN YOUR SCIENCE NOTEBOOK. Watch the video and TAKE NOTES in your Science notebook. You may play the game afterwards to prepare you for the exit ticket (FOUND ON SCHOOLOGY in WEDNESDAY folder). This should be completed by 4pm

  1. Go on to Schoology to complete Benchmark Unit 1- Lesson 6- Parts of a Plant.
  2. ReadWorks: Choose one of the assigned “Article-A- Day” activities to complete. Be sure to do ALL assigned parts of your choice article.
  3. 20 minutes of Choice Reading.
  4. Make observation on Mold Terrarium/ Update your document
  5. All tasks inside Tuesday 10-6 folder in Schoology should be completed by the end of the day*

Logging into Schoology (Specials Help)


It seemed many students are still confused about how to find their class, that there was work there to do in addition to live lessons, and how to join Zoom meetings. In the video I walk them through how to arrange their specials class tiles in Schoology, how to navigate the music page, and how to get to and do their work each week.

Schoology meetings are set to only allow users with the district email address per the requirement from the district. The tech department recommends going to this page: https://dearbornschools-org.zoom.com  to sign in first which will boot them off any other personal gmail accounts for zoom purposes.

ALL STUDENTS WILL WORK ASYNCHRONOUSLY TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING TASKS:

1.    You will listen to a story on ReadWorks about EMPATHY. You will complete the quiz at the end.

2.     You will watch the Cause and Effect Lesson and complete the Cause and Effect Worksheet

3.    Next, you will complete your HOW-TO paragraph on google docs. You will submit your pictures of your prewrites and your drafting using what you learned from all the mini lesson videos this week. Make sure you NAME your writing.

  4.   Complete the Mid Module Review assessment. Due Friday by 4pm.5.   Complete M1L16 in Zearn. You must be on MISSION 2 LESSON 1 by the end of the day.

Today’s Assignments, 10/1/20

Details of the day:

LOG IN: We will be logging in at 8:55am per usual today. Today will consist of our morning meeting as a whole group. We will discuss our writing prompt, our mood meter, and the weather before watching our Social Emotional Learning episode. Once our morning meeting is done we will be splitting off into groups to work at approximately 9:20am.

Group B will remain online with CAMERAS on to complete the NWEA MATH ASSESSMENT, while Group A will go asynchronous (offline from ZOOM) and complete the recorded lessons – all writing, reading, and math activities for the day. 

Group A – Asynchronous work. Complete all items below (1-5) clicking on the hyperlinks to access lessons and assignments:

1.    You will listen to a story on ReadWorks about Abe Lincoln and the 13th amendment. You will complete the quiz at the end.

2.     You will watch the grammar lesson and take notes in your ELA notebook. Complete the exit ticket on the synonym and antonym lesson.

3.    Next, watch three writing mini lessons onInformational Writing and TAKE NOTES IN YOUR NOTEBOOK. Review each video as many times as you need to fully understand. Friday you will be writing your FINAL copy of your informational HOW TO and you will submit pictures of your brainstorming, pre-writes, and drafting.

4.   Work on the math Mid Module Review assessmentDue Friday by 4pm. Test Next Week.

5.   Complete M1L15 in Zearn. You must be on Lesson 16 by the end of the day.

LOG IN: We will ALL come back together in the afternoon at 12:25, to take attendance and discuss social studies. You will then be working asynchronously to complete your work.
