Today we worked on a blood spatter inquiry lab. We watched a clip from Dexter, about how blood tells a story. We then created our own procedures to test our hypothesis about how the height at which it is dropped and the size of the drop are related.
A reminder that there is a quiz on Monday relating to the genetics of blood typing, including Punnet square problems. Students will be able to use their guided notes on the quiz. Great places to study would be these practice sheets…(which we went over in class!)
Today we finished up the analysis of the blood typing lab. We used the CER template to write our analysis paragraph. We also played the blood typing game to determine patient’s blood types and figure out what type of blood they can receive during a transfusion based on their blood type.
The fingerprint retake is scheduled for Tuesday after school. If students can’t stay after school, it is up to them to make other arrangements for a retake.
We have been working on a text set in relation to blood typing. Specifically the difference between antigens and antibodies and how blood type is determined. Today we watched this video clip about a ‘donuts’ analogy.
