Body Farm in Progress…

This week we have been going outside and observing our very own ‘body farm’ in progress.  Students are collecting data each day and observing decomposition and insect activity first hand.  We will be using this data for a summative assessment (analysis of the body farm) on WEDNESDAY!

Reading guide Questions

Students would complete the online reading of challenging text and answer questions related to the text in their own words.

Retakes for the Autopsy/Time of Death quiz will be Tuesday and Wednesday next week after school.  To be eligible for a retake, students must complete an additional study guide (so they are ready), and have no missing work for that unit (reading guide, vocab, internet activity).

Retake Study Guide

Quiz tomorrow!

There is a quiz tomorrow on autopsy and determining the time of death.  Students should have vocabulary, guided notes, a reading guide, and an online assignment to study.  We went over the following questions in class:

What are the steps in an autopsy?, Who completes an autopsy?, What are the 5 manners of death?, How is algor mortis used to estimate time of death?, What is rigor mortis and what causes it?  How is it used to estimate time of death?, What is livor mortis?  What causes it?, What does livor mortis tell use about the body?

Today we finished up working on a time of death activity, and student’s needed to justify their answers using evidence and reasoning.

Because someone asked for it to be posted again…here is the powerpoint for the notes…
