Monday, March 30th

It’s the last week of March. Next week is Spring Break (and a week off from online learning)! It does appear we will be staying healthy at home for a little longer.

Marking period 3 started January 23, and ends March 27th. We were directed to use the grades we currently have for MP3. If your student has late work, they can submit it in one of two ways: 1) Google Classrooom 2) Email me a picture if it ABSOLUTELY cannot be put into a Google Doc. Reading Journals that are late should be submitted in Google Classroom. ALL LATE WORK MUST BE TURNED IN BY 3 PM TODAY.

My priority task right now is MP 3 grades , which are due tomorrow – I will follow up later this week if students have other missing assignments (Reading Journals 17-19, Greek Roots Quiz, Nearpod activities). PLEASE REVIEW THE WORKLIST POSTED IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM!!! It has due dates for everything.

THANK YOU TO ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE SUBMITTED LATE WORK!!! Per the front office, any work assigned BEFORE 3/13 can be graded – for our class, this includes reading journals and the Princess Penelope writing (which is summative).

Students who HAVE NOT turned in their Princess Penelope writing will need to type it in a Google Doc and email it to me BY 3 PM TODAY. I already put the original paragraph (with identified figurative language) in Google classroom last week.

READING JOURNALS ARE DUE TODAY. PLEASE SUBMIT IN GOOGLE CLASSROOM.

NO READING JOURNAL THIS WEEK!

Please take the Greek Roots Quiz in Google Classroom (Summative Quiz #2) if it isn’t completed.

I will not be posting a new Greek roots sheet this week. Once we are able to move to a more cohesive type of online learning, I absolutely will post them. Expect an update after April 6.

This week, students will need to complete: late work, their reading journal, two Nearpod activities, a Newsela activity and designated IXL activities. A work list will be posted in Google Classroom.

In the coming weeks, students will complete activities in Google Classroom (including taking notes, completing task cards, doing Google Slides, and using coding to practice ELA skills. Halloween Guidelines

Any costumes must be consistent with the dress code policy and MAY NOT interfere with the learning process or the teaching in the classroom.
The following rules must be followed if a student chooses to wear a costume:

  • No Props or Weapons of ANY KIND
  • No Masks
  • No Make-up
  • No Hats or Wigs
  • No Costumes that are revealing
  • Skirts and shorts must meet the fingertip length rule
  • Nothing offensive
  • Nothing distracting
  • No fake (or real) blood

Any violators will be asked to change or be sent home.
In Middle School, classes do not celebrate Halloween, students should not bring bags of candy to school to distribute or any other treats. This causes a disruption to learning in the classroom, in the hallways at lockers, and during lunch.
