Week of 1-6-2020
Dear Families,
I hope you all had a wonderful holiday break and Happy New Year! I am so grateful and thankful for all the beautiful cards and gifts I received from your children. I feel so spoiled and thank you for thinking of me. I am one lucky lady to teach your child at DuVall.
Here is what we did/will do in Kindergarten this week:
Important Dates:
1/15/20- Pancake dinner at DuVall
1/17/20- 1/2 day. Book Bingo at 6pm
1/20/20-NO SCHOOL- MLK day
1/21/20- 1/2 day
Homework: This week your child will receive a new homework packet and math game to play about measurement and teen numbers!
Library Check Out: We checked out new books this week after our holiday break! Please bring back the book next week Tuesday to check out a new book.
Popcorn: This Friday we will have popcorn sales so bring your quarters!
Language Arts: We are starting our unit about penguins. We will read books about different kinds of penguins, what they eat, where they live, what penguins do, their body parts etc.
Sight Words: it, big Letters: Focus on Letter Formation (Reading Groups,writing workshop)
Math: We will continue our work in Module 3 on measurement (capacity, weight, length)!
Science/Social Studies: We will be focusing on our Weather Unit. This week we will be “weather watchers” and chart to compare temperature, wind, precipitation and clothing worn in various temperatures. In social studies we will discuss and work in small groups to sort and glue pictures on t-charts that show basic Needs and Wants. Please help us out by cutting out pictures from magazines and newspapers that show needs and wants (please send them in ziplock baggies marked needs/wants). Thank you in advance for your support!
