8th grade Yearlong: Students will be learning about Spanish grammar expressions this week: tener, tener idioms, venir, and conjugating additional verbs. Week of Monday, February 25th
6th Grade Exploring Languages: B day will focus on Spanish family vocabulary & body vocabulary because we had an assembly last week with an astronaut. They did complete their culture pages. Any student that was absent can access information on Google Classroom. B day will also have Jeopardy and a test on Friday, March 1st. A day will be learning about family and body vocabulary this week and playing Jeopardy to prepare for their test next week. They focused on colors and culture last week instead. Students should have all pages except for page 7 completed at the beginning of the week. By the test date, all work should be complete and I will be collecting the material. They will learn about singular and plural articles on Tuesday and review this information with a variety of activities on Wednesday. Question vocabulary will be presented on Thursday and students will use Screencastify to record conversations on Friday. Homework will be work on Quizlet.com. 8th grade Yearlong: Students will be learning about Costa Rica on Monday. They will review information on Tuesday. New vocabulary will be presented on Wednesday. Students will take their chapter 3 project assessment on Thursday, March 28th. On Friday, they will continue to review with new vocabulary. Week of Tuesday, January 29th (snow day yesterday)
Greetings! We met once for A & B day last week. Google forms for Remind.com should be submitted by now for all Exploring language classes and Conversational Spanish classes. Please make sure that students have their supplies listed on the syllabus on Google Classroom, and the supplies are listed on the link above in Syllabi within this blog. This week, we will be going over PBIS procedures and policies. Students in A/B days will begin their Spanish greetings in their packets (packets will be passed out next class). Students in Conversational Spanish will begin learning the alphabet this week. Make sure to have 2 notebooks for the 7th/8th grade classes.

Greetings 2nd semester students & parents. Welcome to Smith’s Foreign Language Blog. During the first week of school, we will be getting to know each other, going over Smith’s PBIS procedures, dress code policy, classroom expectations, and getting our supplies gathered. Please click on the SYLLABI link on the top of the blog to view the classroom supplies needed for each grade level. Students will also be asked to visit Google Classroom after receiving a classroom code to register in order to provide parent contact information for Remind.com, and verify that the syllabus has been read. 6th grade classes: B Day will meet on Tuesday & Thursday of this week. They will They will have their ASL test onTuesday, January 15th and their cultural food day on Thursday, January 17th. Study concepts using Quizlet.com. Friday will be a half day. The following week, students will have a new elective. I will miss them all! A day will meet on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday of this week. They will have their test on Monday, January 14th and their cultural food day on Wednesday, January 16th. Use Quizlet.com to study each day. Check planner for daily assignment completion and (if applicable) change of plans. Check Parent Connect to see if students have been completing homework and participating.

We received an email later this morning that students will be NWEA testing and the schedule with be shorter for next Tuesday through Thursday. 7th graders will now have their cultural food day rescheduled for Friday, January 18th. 8th graders will have their cultural food day rescheduled for Friday, January 25th.
