PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Monday was Earth Day! We read a book about how we can care for our planet and the children made a marble painted Earth and chose one thing they can do to help. Our projects are hanging outside our classroom in the hall
  • We read many books including “10 Little Bluebirds” “There was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Frog” and “We’re Going on a Lion Hunt”
  • Ms. Staci and Mrs. Gallery came in for group therapy! We used tongs to pick up marshmallows and outlined the first letter of our names.  The students worked on practicing making request for more
  • The students worked on their subtraction skills with a game of bowling! We counted all 10 pins as we set them up, counted how many we knocked over and then how many were left standing
  • We worked on our fine motor skills with legos, puzzles, and by tracing a lady bug
  • We enjoyed the beautiful weather by taking walks and playing on the playground
  • On Friday our school celebrated Care to the Core Day. The students took turned going to the gym in groups to learn what its like to live with different disabilities.  This was something the whole school participated in 🙂

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • The students practiced our core words “go” and “stop” with an interactive bunny story
  • We practiced color recognition and counting with Easter eggs
  • The children practiced identifying the first letter of their name during attendance and with our class book
  • We worked on fine motor skills when we traced and colored a bunny
  • We read many stories including “Pig’s Egg,” “Ribbit!” and “There was an Old Lady who Swallowed a Chick”
  • The students helped dye Easter eggs
  • We had a fire drill

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “want”
  • We practiced using the word “want” in many ways. The children took turns requesting songs using the sentence starter “I want…” They also made requests for when they wanted more food at snack
  • Our letter of the week was “W”
  • We practiced the letter “W” by reading an interactive book and searching through our rice bin for objects that start with the letter “W,” we did a watermelon bingo sheet, traced a whale, and sang letter “W” songs
  • We read many books including “The Very Hungry Caterpillar” and “Ten Easter Eggs”
  • The students worked on building stamina during read to self time during which they practiced their book handling skills
  • The children practiced counting and adding with an Easter basket and egg craft. Our work is hanging in the hallway outside our classroom
  • We read an interactive book about things we see in the spring
  • The children practiced identifying the first letter of their name during attendance
  • We went for a walk to enjoy the weather and had some time on the playground
  • The children worked on sorting by shape after reading a book about shapes in the world around us

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “under”
  • We practiced using the word “under” in many ways. The children took turns find the toy under the cup, guessing who was hiding under the blanket, and playing a following a direction game to put certain objects under items in the room
  • Our letter of the week was “U”
  • We practiced the letter “U” by reading an interactive book and searching through our rice bin for objects that start with the letter “U,” we did an umbrella bingo sheet, and sang letter “U” songs
  • We read many books including “Panda Bear, Panda Bear, What do you See?,” “Mouse Shapes,” and “Ten Jolly Pirates”
  • The students worked on building stamina during read to self time during which they practiced their book handling skills
  • The children practiced counting, 1:1 correspondence and number recognition with our feed the cow game
  • We worked on our fine motor skills by tracing a spring scene and also listened to songs about spring to celebrate the first day!
  • We had group therapy with Ms. Staci and Mrs. Gallery during which we made shamrock shakes and painted a shamrock outline with q-tips and water colors
  • The children worked on their sorting skills by sorting shapes

PEEK AT THE WEEK

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “turn”
  • We practiced using the word “turn” in many ways. The children took turns playing games, using toys, and tossing bean bags, we turned the lids of our bingo markers to take them off and turned the lights off at nap time
  • Our letter of the week was “T”
  • We practiced the letter “T” by reading an interactive book and searching through our rice bin for objects that start with the letter “T,” we did a truck bingo sheet, and sang letter “T” songs, we also traced a train
  • We read many books including “Bear Sees Colors,” “Chicka Chicka 123,” and “We’re Going on a Lion Hunt”
  • The students worked on building stamina during read to self time during which they practiced their book handling skills
  • The children practiced identifying their first letter of their name during attendance
  • We worked on color recognition with our super sized rings on a post and listened to color songs

  • Our core vocab word of the week was “stop”
  • We practiced using the word “stop” in many ways. The children made marble paintings and shook the container until a friend said “stop,” we made toy cars go and stop, and we danced until the song said freeze and then stopped
  • Our letter of the week was “S”
  • We practiced the letter “S” by reading an interactive book and searching through our rice bin for objects that start with the letter “S,” we did a submarine bingo sheet, and sang letter “S” songs, we also traced a sailboat
  • We practiced counting and number recognition with our feed me pretend cow game
  • We read “Bear in a Square” and then sorted objects by their shape
  • The students practiced identifying the first letter in their name and completed a rainbow write
  • The students helped read an interactive book about colors and then sorted our color bears
  • We read many books to kick off March is reading month including “Monday is a Funday,” “The Pigeon Wants a Puppy,” and “Mouse Shapes”

Help Send The Fifth Graders to Camp!!

Dear Snow Families,
It’s that time of year again, the Little Caesars Pizza Kit Fundraiser is underway!  All proceeds will be used to help send next year’s Fifth Graders to Camp Pinewood.  Packets have been sent home with all important information.  If you need another, please contact Ms. Sherlock. There is an online ordering option at www.pizzakit.com (Fundraiser ID #361680) .
Order forms and payments are due on Thursday  March 21st and pizza kits will be delivered on April 24th, 3:45 PM-5:00PM.

Half Day Reminder

Don’t forget tomorrow, Thursday February 14th is a half day.  Dismissal is at 11:45.

Also, no school Friday, February 15th – Monday, February 18th for mid-winter break.

School is back in session Tuesday, February 19th.  See you then!
