Spring Break

I hope everyone is having a wonderful and restful spring break.  I know I have so far and will even being doing better if Michigan wins tonight against Villanova.  Go Blue!

The quarter ended last Thursday and I will be working making sure everything is graded and recorded by the end of the week, grades are due the day we get back for teachers.  However, I have a few students that didn’t send me their typed one page, three paragraph paper on Globalization yet.  Its a sumative so if I don’t have it by the Sunday April 8th; its a zero.  Students had most of Wednesday and all of Thursday to do it.

We will be starting the Respiration and Circulatory System when we get back in science.

As for this week students have a lot of assessments two particularly for me… there is a science quiz tomorrow on the muscular and skeletal systems.  Here is not only the Kahoot!, but the Power Point as well.

23rd Week of School

Welcome back… I hope everyone enjoyed their week long Winter Break… Yeah!

Just before break we started working on our C.E.R’s, students were given pretty much the entire time to work on them today.  They are due tomorrow. I attached a few things to hopefully make that C.E.R. easier.  Also, I did text students to encourage them to work on them during the break where some did take advantage of that.

Snow Day!!

Happy Snow Day!! Stay warm… do some binge watching, play some video games, drink some hot coco, build a snow man and have a little fun.  Just a few things… next week is SPIRIT WEEK!  We got a wagon for the parade on Friday however, we need supplies to construct our float.  I will go out and buy some materials, but as I am told this is student led and needs to be constructed by students.  We will only have four days to build our Mickey Mouse, so advisory students bring in your materials and have a plan for that short time.

Here is the themes for next week… Monday = Pajama Day, Tuesday = Meme/Day/TV Character, Wednesday = Twin Day, Thursday = Slippers & Hat Day, Friday = Color Day (8th grade = black, 7th grade = white, 6th grade = blue).

We started our Human Impact Project which is due next Thursday. If you look in the previous entry the Power Point is there, we assigned groups, gave out the Rubric, saw videos, examples, timetable/checklist and we practiced with a few sentence stems.  I believe I have given enough guidance for students to be successful and meet the highest expectations.  One of my recommendations was to do it on Google Slides so you can share it within your group.  I advise that strongly.  Lastly, students will have a majority of the time in classes next week, but not the full 100 minute blocks.  I have other things we need to accomplish.

21st Week of School

I will not be at school Monday February 5th.

Here is picture of the Gummy Bear Osmosis Project we were doing the last couple days.  You will notice that Gummy Bear because of Osmosis doubled in size when you leave it in water over night.

We will be starting our Human Impact Project (cross over assignment science/social studies) Tuesday which will take 7-10 class periods.  Here is the Power Point and a list of Internet sites that students can use for research.

Here is the next Geography Point as well on Chapter 4.

Chapter 4 The Great Lakes Power Point 6th

FYI There is a late start Wednesday the 7th.

Finally, we need a wagon so we can participate in the parade for spirit week… does anyone in my advisory have one to bring in?  Spirit Week is in two weeks.  We have to decorate it too.
