Clean Up Parade May 6, 2011

Congratulations to everyone who was involved in the 2011 Miller School Clean Up Parade!  We are now a GREEN school!  Our very own Mayor came to speak as well as the Superintendant of the Dearborn Public Schools.  And…..the WBPE did a GREAT job to open and close the ceremony!   I am proud of you!~  Here are some pictures of the event.

Dearborn Symphony Field Trip Feb. 24, 2011

We had a great time at the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center when we had the opportunity to hear the Dearborn Symphony Orchestra play a special concert just for us!  Every 4th grade student from the DPS was invited to attend and in our performance there were close to 1000 students!  Wow!  Each Elementary School Music Teacher was asked to choose one student who was dedicated to practicing very hard on the recorder.  They had to learn and memorize Beethoven’s “Ode to Joy” from his Ninth Symphony.  Congratulations to Ahmad Chammout who did a fine job of representing Miller Elementary in a concert!!

W.B.P.E. and Farm Team Field Trip

W.B.P.E. and Farm Team Field Trip

Get ready drummers, we are going on a Field Trip!  On Tuesday February 15 we will be spending the day at Oakland University and have some wonderful activities planned!  Our itinerary includes:

Tour of the University

Lunch/Games at the Student Center

Arts at Noon Concert featuring the University World Music Drumming Ensemble

A Hand drumming Workshop with Professor Mark Stone

1.  Students should bring warm clothing as we will do some walking outside.

2.  Please keep in mind that the food available at the food court is not Halal, but they will have some vegetarian food choices.  Students may bring their       own packed lunch and snacks.   Students may bring money to purchase food and to play in the game room if time allows.

3.  All students who have their own drums should bring them along.

4.  Permission slips are due on Monday February 14, 2011.
