November 2

Week of November 4th

Good afternoon! I hope everyone is enjoying their fall Saturday. We went to the apple orchard early this morning and Bin rode his first train. He was extra excited!

Reminders:

  • No school Tuesday. It’s election day! Please take the time to vote in Dearborn. We teach our kids to do their civic duty, and watching their parents do it is the best way to ingrain it in them.
  • I asked students to keep any Halloween candy at home, and I only saw 1 pack of sour patch candies! Thank you for helping out and making sure their treats stay home and only snacks are sent.
  • Parent-Teacher conferences start this week. Students have reminders and sign up sheets for parents who have not signed up. It is imperative that I meet with every child’s parent.
  • It is getting brrrrrrrr outside. Please make sure your child is equipped for the cold weather.

I have A LOT of pictures this week, so enjoy!

Week of October 28th

Good morning!

I hope everyone is enjoying the wet windy weather this morning 🙂 Bin and I went on a coffee day and he enjoyed the wind blowing in his hair. He is super excited for meeting my students on Wednesday’s Boo Bash!

Reminders/Updates:

  • Wednesday is Boo Bash after school
  • Monday we have a math assessment
  • Friday is our library check out time (we missed one due to picture day, so students are excited)
  • We are getting more homework for multiplication, division, and handwriting practice. It should take students only a few extra minutes, I am not trying to overwhelm them but help them improve their skills.
We are beginning a unit on multiplication and division and student need to know these properties. If they have time at home, give them the opportunity to practice them with different multiplication equations.

Week of October 21st

Good morning,

I am taking a break from a mini dance party with Bin to update families 🙂

REMINDERS:

  • The weather is getting colder! Please send students to school bundled up.
  • Snacks should be HEALTHY. Admittedly chips, cookies, and candy are delicious, but save them for home.

I am impressed with this class. We had 2 new students this week, and they put in a lot of effort to be welcoming and courteous. Please hug them and tell them that they are kind and great kids. I am proud to be their teacher.

We needed to practice our class rules and expectations a couple times this week, so our new students could hear them too. If you have time ask them to show you our 5 rules at home 🙂

I didn’t get an opportunity to take much photos this week, it’s been very busy. Here they are working on their opinion writing by studying a mentor text.

Week of October 14

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I sure am! We went on a fall walk and enjoyed the breeze.

REMINDERS

  • Friday is picture day
  • The weather is going to be getting colder, so please make sure your child has an appropriate jacket on the colder days. We will continue to go outside as long as it isn’t raining and above 30 degrees.

Lots of pictures today! We spent a lot of time working hard on our writing and students had the opportunity to share with the class. again I apologize, but this new platform of iBlog I cannot figure out how to rotate pictures so they aren’t laying to the side.

Week of October 7

Good morning! I hope everyone is beginning to enjoy the cool fall weather. It’s time to start wearing jackets to school or at least hoodies for recess!

REMINDERS/UPDATES:

  • We started our social studies test on Friday but did not finish. Just in case your child did not bring theirs home to look over, here is a copy.
  • We had to take a few moments on Friday to talk about friendship and being kind to each other. Please keep this conversation going on at home. I want us to be a community and family in the class, and sometimes we need to be reminded about that.
  • Students know who is Student of the Month and Bucket Filler, but please refer to page on the right to see for yourself!

Students working with the writing partners to help revise and slow down their story moments. Also a few pictures of our first PBIS. Finally, one reading group reading their reader’s theatre to the class. It was a great week.
