After the quiz the students were given a Classwork sheet to complete. This sheet has the students explore tranformations of the parent Reciprocal Function  y=1/x (Sec 9-2).

The remainder of the period we finished our discussion on Chapter 8.  Students were introduced to the Natural Logarithm, a function that is used to solve when the base of an exponential equation is the number e.  After that discussion we began looking ahead to Chapter 9.  We started with a review of Direct Variation.  Students were then introduced to another kind of variation, Inverse Variation.

Quiz #1 Review – Chapter 8

Bellwork reviewed using logarithms to solve exponential equations.  It also included a practice PSAT/SAT math question.

The remainder of the period we finished the material for Quiz #1.  Quiz #1 will be given on Tuesday, February 5, 2019.  Students were already given the review for this quiz.

With the remainder of the period students were introduced to the number e and some of its uses.  This will lead to a special kind of logarithm.
