Monday, February 10: Moylan still isn’t feeling great, so students were mostly working on their own in class to finish two assignments posted to our EnVision class.

Tuesday, February 11: In an effort to keep the Review-train rolling, students created a flipbook which covered most of our quadrilateral properties and came with some practice problems as well. Once the flipbook was completed, students had to show it to Moylan for their credit and then they could work on some missing assignments.

Wednesday, February 12: Any students who didn’t finish their flipbook review from yesterday still had to show it to Moylan for their credit. Once that was done, they got to work on part two of the Unit Review.

Thursday, February 13:

Friday, February 14: Unit Assessment today on our quadrilateral unit! Make sure that you are studying your notecards and keeping track of those properties! Remember, today is the last day to turn in any late assignments for Quadrilaterals! If you have missing assignments after today, you cannot do a Quadrilaterals Retake later this semester!

Monday, February 3: We worked on section 6-3 today in our books, covering the properties of parallelograms.

Tuesday, February 4: After a quick entry ticket, students finished their Try It problems from yesterday. We then discussed the entry ticket before spending the rest of the hour working on some stations.

Wednesday, February 5: Another entry ticket today, then students made their way through section 6-4 together before checking our answers to the Try It problems the last few minutes of class.

Thursday, February 6: We dove into section 6-5 today, talking about Rhombuses, Rectangles, and Squares, covering some of the specific properties each one has which makes them “special parallelograms”.

Friday, February 7: Moylan was out sick today, so students worked on a worksheet to reinforce the special properties we’d covered yesterday. Make sure that you showed your work to get credit!

Monday, January 27: We started our official first unit in Envision today. Students learned how to calculate the Interior Angle Sum of any polygon they ever come across.

Tuesday, January 28: Picking up where we left off yesterday, we learned how to calculate angle measures of regular polygons, the exterior angles of polygons, and learned that the exterior angle sum of our polygons will always be 360 degrees!

Wednesday, January 29: Students completed an entry ticket for bell work today, demonstrating what they could remember about finding the measure of one angle inside a regular polygon. Moylan then graded those while students completed an activity to estimate the number of sides a real-world object has and what it might be. After finishing up the activity, Moylan passed back the entry tickets so that we could talk about and better understand how the grading rubric and success criteria will function for this unit/semester.

Thursday, January 30: After bell work, we tried a new approach to covering lesson 6-2 based off the success of students working together through the inquiry-based lesson yesterday. Table partners read through the examples in the book and used that information to complete their “Try It” problems for most of the hour before we came back together whole-class to compare our answers.

Friday, January 31: After bell work today, students worked their way through questions 1-11 and 16-23 (skip 18) for lesson 6-2 (p.259-261) before turning them in and then turning in an Exit Ticket. Students who get the Exit Ticket done with enough time left in class got to start on their homework during class.

Monday, January 20: MLK Jr. Day! No School!

Tuesday, January 21: Half day, hours 1-3 only! We started off with distributing a couple new materials for this semester and then worked in small groups to evaluate and critique classroom norms and expectations.

Wednesday, January 22: Half day, hours 1-3 only! We started off with distributing a couple new materials for this semester and then worked in small groups to evaluate and critique classroom norms and expectations.

Thursday, January 23: It’s our first official, whole day of second semester! Students spent the hour exploring our new resource (Pearson Envision) and trying their hand at the Readiness Assessment for Topic 6.

Friday, January 24: Students got some additional practice for the upcoming SAT by visiting Khan Academy and joining our class.

The seniors amongst us (who will not be taking the SAT this coming April) instead went back to the Envision website and practiced the suggested assignments from yesterday’s readiness assessment.

Monday, January 13: Students got to spend the hour working on their reference note card for finals today! They are welcome to include as many formulas, definitions, and notes as they want, but no worked out examples are allowed. Notecards must be turned in to Moylan by the end of the hour if you plan to use one for the final! Students who are absent today but wish to still use a notecard must email Moylan and then turn in their notecard before 7:20 tomorrow!

Tuesday, January 14: Finals begin! We spent the hour demonstrating just how capable we are at Proving and Justifying Geometric Statements!

Study! Sleep well! Eat breakfast! Make sure that your alarms are set, because…

Wednesday, January 15: 1st and 2nd hour finals today! Dismissal at 10:30!

Thursday, January 16: 3rd and 4th hour finals today! Dismissal at 10:30!

Friday, January 17: 5th and 6th hour finals today! Dismissal at 10:30!

Monday, January 6: Welcome back from break! After two weeks of relaxing and rejuvenating, we are diving in to full-blown review for Finals! Finals begin next Tuesday, so we can’t waste any time! Students started off by picking up Final Review – Part 1, which focused primarily on our first standard, Vocabulary/Naming/Notation, but also had some other standards mixed in for good measure.

Tuesday, January 7: We continued our review journey by focusing on our second standard of the semester, Applying Transformations. The long awaited chance to reassess Vocabulary/Naming/Notation finally came today after school for eligible students.

Wednesday, January 8: The review continues! This time, Part 3 of our Final Review focused on our ability to Prove and Justify Geometric Statements. After school, those students who were eligible reassessed their Applying Transformations standard.

Thursday, January 9: Review! Review! Review! Part 4 of our Final Review wants to make sure that we still know how to Apply Triangle Properties correctly! Those students who were eligible came after school to reassess their Prove/Justify skills.

Friday, January 10: SAT Packet 2 is due today, so make sure that is 100% complete, including the work/explanations for each problem. Our last reassessment for eligible students took place after school today, demonstrating some growth in regard to Applying Triangle Properties.

Student/Parent Connect has been updated to show the “Trending Grade” in each standard as we approach the Final next week. This represents the current level of proficiency in each standard based on all entered data so far.

Monday, December 16: Today we covered the last piece of new information for the semester – CPCTC. We discussed what it means, howand when to use it, and practiced implementing it into a few proofs.

Tuesday, December 17: We practiced our prove/justify and vocab/naming skills today with a whiteboard activity.

Wednesday, December 18: Today was all about better preparing for tomorrow’s assessment! Students picked up two review worksheets (and an optional extra to practice those level 4 questions) to practice throughout the hour.

Thursday, December 19: It’s finally here! Our last unit assessment! Make sure that you’ve studied and prepared as best you can!

Friday, December 20: It’s the day before break! Perfect chance to continue practicing geometry and let AgileMind know what you think once again! Students also picked up SAT Packet 2, which is due the Friday after break.

Monday, December 9: We got started on wrapping everything together, revisiting all of our triangle congruence shortcuts and actually using them to determine if certain diagrams are congruent or not.

Tuesday, December 10: We continued our work from yesterday, but made it all a bit more formal and completed/wrote out actual proofs of triangle congruence. There was also a new practice assignment posted to AgileMind today!

Wednesday, December 11: Moylan and Pniewski were out of the class today, so students worked on reviewing their skills at applying triangle properties to prepare for Friday’s reassessment.

Thursday, December 12: Today continued our review work from throughout the unit. Students checked over their work from yesterday, and also worked on a new review posted to AgileMind during class.

Friday, December 13: Assessment on Applying Triangle Properties today! Make sure that you’ve studied and prepared!

Monday, December 2: We launched into Unit 9 today, bringing everything together as we started working on using our triangle properties to prove and justify that certain triangles are congruent. We talked about what that means and started looking for shortcuts to make it easier.

Tuesday, December 3: Continuing our search for the shortcuts, we realized that it took 3 pair of corresponding congruent parts to work as a shortcut guarantee. Students then worked together to determine which groups of corresponding parts could work for a guarantee.

Wednesday, December 4: Moylan was out today, so students worked on a review and reinforce worksheet for all of our triangle knowledge and turned it in at the end of the hour.

Thursday, December 5: Moylan was still out today (hey, making your final takes a lot of time to make sure that it’s right) so students continued working on reviewing and reinforcing skills from earlier in the semester. Psst, this is another final review, just like the three you got the week before break.

Friday, December 6: Moylan is back! So we got back into the swing of things with Unit 9 and our congruent triangles. We explored the particular situation in which “SSA” works and also had a really quick assignment on AgileMind.

Monday, November 18: Today was all about reviewing and preparing for tomorrow’s assessment! Students started off the hour by grabbing their chromebooks and working on their AgileMind practices (there were 2 total) and then moving along to the two review sheets they’d picked up at the end of the hour on Friday. All four assignments are due at the beginning of the hour tomorrow before the assessment!

The “Applying Properties of a Triangle” Review answer key is located at the end of the review posted on Friday; please check your work there.

Tuesday, November 19: After 15 minutes of review at the start of the hour, students spent the rest of the hour Proving and Justifying just how they can Apply the Properties of Triangles on our assessment.

Wednesday, November 20:

Thursday, November 21:

Friday, November 22: SAT Practice Packet is due today! Make sure that you completed all 30 questions, along with your explanations/work!
