Students learned that abstract art used shapes, color and lines to create art that doesn’t have a subject.  It isn’t a picture of anything, it’s a design.  The 3rd graders used lines and shapes traced with crayon to create their own abstract art.  Students could add some texture by rubbing texture plates with crayon if they chose to.  Then they painted their designs with watercolor using a wet-on-wet technique.
