The Journey

It all happened when Houda Assaf started to get “symptoms that were unlike anything I had had before starting around November 2008.” May 2009, that was when Houda had been diagnosed with multiple sclorosis. Multiple sclorosis is a disease that affects pretty much your whole body. Let us go back to when she was first diagnosed in May 2009. “I felt like everyone began to step away from me when they found out.”, stated Houda. When she first found out she started crying on the spot. She felt like, “No one was understanding me because I was sick.”

“It has been a long journey.” Houda started to not focus on herself because she felt like, “I had to support them more than she had to support herself.” Unfortunately, there is no cure for Multiple sclerosis, but she started a new treatment that is overseas.

Being a patient of M.S for almost 10 years, “The M.S has affected my life in a way to adjust with the disease.” Besides all the pain she is going through, Houda is very grateful that she has the opportunity to do this treatment overseas In Lebanon. She has lost over 40 pounds during the course of 6 months.

When Houda first got the bad news doctors told her that in six months she will be unable to move. “Here I am almost 10 years later still being able to move like a normal person.”  Houda wasn’t able have children,m when she recieved the news she was beyond upset.

Houda is grateful no matter what happens because she has the opportunity to help her M.S get better, “I feel like a lot of people stepped away when they found out that it is not temporary. “As long as there is still a lot of people who care about me I will always feel blessed and thankful.”

  1. Hey, I really liked your story escalated. It seems like you put a lot of thought into it. Also, thank goodness she is okay she was a very strong woman and she never gave up and that’s all that matter.
