The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), have been bombing and terrorizing the world since 2004, their attacks this year the worst of them all. They killed  hundreds of innocent people including the beheading of two American journalists Steven Sotloff and James Foley, also a  British aid worker David Hanes. “It’s scary knowing that they’re capable of all this.” Says 8th grade,  Unis student, Batoul Baydoun.

On September 10, President Obama made a speech on the U.S defense against ISIS, he said the U.S will not be a part of the war, but he will send air strikes and troops to help prepare the Iraqi military. The U.S. is also willing to arm Iraq with weapons so they could fight for themselves.

When asked what her thoughts on this plan were, Zahraa Aljebory, an 8th grader at Unis, said, “It’s a bad idea, why waste time training people who don’t know how to fight when the ones who know how to can.” After being asked the same question, Fatme Almoola, 8th grader, said, “There’s already war everywhere, it’ll be worse if the U.S gets involved, it’s a bad idea.”

With everyday they bring more and more terror and kills, Obama’s plan is meant to protect the U.S from ending up with the same fate as the other countries. When asked again how much power she thinks it will take for them to be defeated, Zahraa Aljebory said, “It’ll take a lot of power and weapons to defeat ISIS.”

We all know that ISIS is very strong and powerful, they grow bigger and more powerful everyday. Will help from the U.S. be able to stop the ISIS group?
