Assignment #9 9/20/19
1st and 2nd hour – if you are here for the directions to the CER assignment I gave you, you’re in luck. You helped me realize that my students need more time figuring out the rating and score for their method. Your CER is no longer due on Monday… we are going to work on it in class.
All classes – What I expect you to have done coming into class on Monday on Assignment #9 (Loosestrife Town Hall assignment) is this:
Criteria is completely filled in on your decision matrix. It matches every group member’s paper because you picked the three criteria together.
Importance Value has been decided for each criteria. They add up to 10 and they match the numbers on your group’s papers because you decided on them together.
Rating: Your ratings will NOT match your group. You find a rating by following these steps:
- Figure out what method number you are working on. It is written in on your paper.
- Start with the first criteria your group picked.
- Look at the scientist’s data table (plastic sheet). With one finger, point at which criteria you are looking for, and with the other finger, point at the method you were assigned. Slide your fingers across and down until they meet. Remember what piece of information is written there.
- Back on your assignment #9 there is a rating table. Put your finger on the criteria you are working on right now. Read this line of the chart, looking for the information you got from the scientist data table. Then slide your finger up the chart until it lands on the rating number. THIS is what you write on your decision matrix.
Score: To calculate the score for each criteria, multiply the rating you just recorded by the importance value you assigned to that criteria. Write the result as that criteria’s score.
Total score: Once you have all 3 scores multiplied, add them together to get your method’s total score.
EVIDENCE: On the back of your paper, you can collect all of the evidence from your group for all four methods. This is the evidence portion of your CER.
- Method #1 ______
- Method #2 ______
- Method #3 ______
- Method #4 ______
This was what we did in class today. Lots of students struggled with figuring out the rating. We were not able to work on the CER completely today, so I moved it to Monday for ALL CLASSES, including first hour even though some people already turned theirs in. If you already finished your CER, you will be able to start on the last part of the assignment on Monday.
