Hello Students,

This week’s lesson will be looking a bit different.  In order to access the lesson you will need to go to Google Classroom.  I already gave you the code in a recent blog post.  Once you are in Google Classroom, you will need two items. One is a Google Slideshow, which has information you need to view.  Some of it is reading, other parts are short videos.  The other item is a Google Sheet.  It has the questions you will need to answer and then hand in through Google Classroom. It is probably best to have both those open so you can toggle back and forth to write the information in the document. In order to anwer the questions on the Google Document you MUST make a copy of it first.

I have made a short video, which will help you navigate this information: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1OEEXlVS5DCtNV5VT3Ma_vp0cU38K9bJm/view?usp=sharing

I hope you and your families are doing well.

Please email me with any questions.

Hello Students!!

I hope all is well with you and your families. In this email I am going to give you your homework for this week. This work will be entered in the grade book and will have an impact on your 4th marking period science grade as well as your final science grade. I know you definitely have the time to complete the work. According to the Newsela and IXL, it has been taking students an average of around 3 hours total to complete the work. I also am cognizant that this is an unprecedented time for you as student as well as for me the teacher. I am sensitive to the amount of work and quality of work I am receiving. With that said, do your best. Learning is for you.

Complete the IXL Engineering Practices (7th Grade Letter C) Parts 1 and 2. Remember to get full credit you must have a smart score of over 80. This work should be completed before noon on Saturday, April 25th.

Science Fair project. I have explained this before, but now that it is closing in on the due date (This is due May 8th) I am explaining it here once again. As mentioned, you are only completing the beginning portion of the science fair project. You are NOT asked to complete the actual experiment. You are NOT asked to work with your partner. Although, you can work with your partner via the internet. You will need to type out the beginning part of the science fair project and submit it into my Google Classroom. The portion you are completing should look like: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1vyjqXZqBKf64n6o8low4ZrMNWDh-BS-2a02yWY8WEL8/edit?usp=sharing

Stay Safe!!

Monday, April 13

Hello and welcome back from Spring Break!! I hope everyone is staying healthy and observing the stay home stay safe order of Governor Whitmer.

Although the school building is closed, all students are expected to complete online work. At this time, the Bryant Middle School science teachers are assigning IXL and Newsela. Once we get more information from the district, other educational forms will probably take place. The IXL and Newsela should take most students less than 3 hours for the entire week.

The Newsela article for this week is Using the Laws of Motion to Explain what Happens when cars Collide.

As you read the article annotations need to be written in the margins of the article. You should have at least 10 annotations. Complete the quiz and the writing. The writing should be 3-5 sentences. This is only a short writing and should be free of spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. Remember to proof read by pointing to each word as you read your writing to yourself.

The IXL is Section H: Kinetic and Potential Energy
Lessons 1-4. Remember, your Smart Score needs to be over 80% to receive full credit.

As always, please email me with any questions or concerns.
