Week of September 23

Good morning,

I hope everyone rested well this weekend, because we have a busy week ahead of us!

REMINDERS/UPDATES:

  • Late start Wednesday
  • We have a quiz in math to see what students have learned about place value and multiplying and dividing by 10, 100, and 1000. There is a slight chance we will have 2 quizzes, one on Monday and another on Friday. This is because Topic B is only 2 lessons long and we will possibly cover it between Monday through Thursday.

Have a great Sunday! I am spending it relaxing at home after an adventurous Saturday.

A couple of pictures from last week:

This is a private youtube channel that people with access to the link can view. I periodically delete the content, however, the video is live for parents to view. We are studying the preamble and why it was written for the constitution. So we put hand movements to help us remember key words. https://youtu.be/Sa7kl5k9iDw

Good early Saturday morning!

I am up bright and early about to head to the gym with my family, but before I do here are some updates:

Updates:

  • We are mostly all done with testing, thank you parents for your patience. This means homework will be more consistent so please make sure your child has what they need.
  • Thank you parents who came to Open House and signed up for a November Parent-Teacher Conference. I will send out reminders and sign up sheets for parents who could not make it on Thursday.
  • Until the school begins to provide healthy fruit and vegetables for snack, please provide your child with a healthy snack. Candy and chips are delicious, but they make students hyper and hard to focus.

Have a great weekend! I know I will 🙂

Students hard at work writing and sharing their ideas in social studies/science. I apologize, I still cannot figure out how to flip the pictures with the new iBlog format 🙁

Week of September 9

Good morning!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.

Reminders:

  • Open house will be Thursday, September 12th at 6:00-7:30. I hope to see all parents there.
  • We will continue NWEA next week. Please make sure your child is having a good night’s rest each day.

Have a great rest of your Sunday!

Here are a few pictures from the last 2 weeks. Unfortunately, with the new format, I do not know how to rotate pictures so that they aren’t all on their side :,(

Students are tracing their shadows to study later on that afternoon.

Students experimenting with water and pennies. It was an activity to practice trial and error.

Students interviewing each other.

One of our Daily 5 rotations.

Week of September 3

Good afternoon 5th graders and their families!

This is my first post this school year, and I hope families tune into it weekly.

WEEKLY REMINDERS:

  • This is where I will place any upcoming events that the school announces. For now there are none.

Every week I will post A LOOK AT THE WEEK which gives parents a glance of what we’re learning and how they can support that at home. Please understand that the homework listed on it may change depending on how far we get in the lessons at school.

That’s about it! Have a great rest of your Monday! See everyone bright and early on Tuesday.

  • DRA reading test is almost done! Everyone has got up a level, some have gone up 2! I am impressed by this class.
