Class News

Today we discussed word work stations during Reading time. We practiced using the word work “games” and worked on word endings, word beginnings, and sounds & letters. We also continued finding mystery numbers in math, this time we looked for the missing total. Students enjoyed time with Mrs. Hansen in Computers/Media Center and continued to discuss internet and computer safety.

Students enjoyed practicing word work. Students were also able to look for mystery parts in math and enjoyed music time with Mrs. Faryniarz as well as working on science with Mrs. Grucz.

We finished our NWEA testing! Scores will go home tomorrow with all students. We enjoyed singing and dancing with Mrs. Faryniarz in Music class. We continued working on creating strong writing and listening skills as well as continuing our adding and number bonds. We talked about making good choices and tattling vs. reporting.

Tomorrow Friday, September 17th, 2021 will be 1/2 day. Dismissal is at 12:05pm.

Tomorrow ONLY: Arrival and dismissal will take place on the big playground (field). The small playground will be closed tomorrow only. When students are finished with breakfast they will proceed to the big playground.

Tomorrow is also our PIZZA SALE. PIzza will be sold after school on the big playground. Pizza will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. $1 for 1 slice and $10 for a box.

Today we had a great time playing Minute to Win it in the Gym. The first grade team did a great job! (See class dojo for pictures). We finished our Math NWEA test and will finish Reading tomorrow. We practiced using 5-group cards and making number bonds. We enjoyed some time being creative in Art class and learned more about our 5-senses.

Students continued NWEA testing with the Math portion of the test today. Not all students finished, so students will again finish any reading or math portions they need to complete tomorrow. When all students have completed their testing results will go home. Today we were able to practice our media center skills with Mrs. Hansen in the library! We also worked on our 5 senses and continued finding unknown numbers and completing pictures and number bonds.

Today we continued practicing our reading skills and continued working with number bonds to make eight and nine.

Next Monday and Tuesday we will take the State mandated NWEA test for Reading & Math. This test will not count towards a grade or report cards but please make sure students are well rested and have had a healthy breakfast. (Remember students can always get a free breakfast in the cafeteria before school starts).

Spelling Notebooks have been sent home for Week 3. Students practiced their words this past week at school and now will have a special task to perform each day for their spelling list. At the end of the week we will do a spelling check. Over the weekend students should practice reading and writing their new words for week 3.

Today we had Media class! We practiced about strong listening, strong readers, and reading to self. We worked on practicing our spelling in our Spelling Notebook. We have our Math Bags and R.E.D. folders!

Practice Rainbow Words & Consonants/Vowels in our Spelling Notebook (Directions on the inside cover of notebook). Read a book, complete the R.E.D. to tell what book you read!

Today we had Music class for the first time this year! We practiced about strong listening, strong readers, and reading to self. We worked on logging into Chromebooks, Schoology, and Benchmark. We also talked more about manners in school and created our Classroom Expectations contract.

We worked on having discussions with one another and cheered each other on when we presented our ideas. We also talked about manners in school and earned many points for our Dojo monsters.
