If you are new to the school my name is Mr.Tapp. I have been teaching in Dearborn for 24 years(starting year 26 overall). I have been at DuVall my whole time and now back at Long for the last 3 years.

Background information – I have been married to my wife Melissa for 25 years and we have three daughters Quinn(22)EMU Graduate, Chloe(20)EMU Nursing program, and Kealani(18)Wayne St student.

Travel – I love to go where there is water. My parents live in Hawaii so I love to visit. I also love to be by the water when I travel up north.

My Hobbies – Golfing, Muscle Cars, and going to Michigan football games.

My daughter Kealani and I go to 3 to 4 games every year. GO BLUE!

Hello faithful Martians,
We come to you today with a heavy heart, feelings of defeat and our apologies. We had anticipated an event date of July 25th would be a possibility but at this time the mounting roadblocks have reached their peak. The Martian Invasion of Races passes through multiple locations, and while we had re-adjusted to deal with some of those re-locations, we continue to receive “no-go” orders that make the event impossible to put on in person on July 25th with the current number of participants. This has been an incredibly trying spring as an event company and we are so sorry that this will be affecting you as well. We know you’ve trained hard and were probably as hopeful about July as we were.
Here are your choices for what to do with your registration:
All entries will be automatically rolled over to the 2021 date of April 17, 2021, unless you would like to make any additional changes. If you allow your registration to roll over to 2021 this would include every add-on. If you simply want to participate next year, no action is required of you. If you decide to change distances in 2021 there will be no transfer fees.If you still want to be a part of the Martian Invasion of Races on your own time, you do have the choice to still participate virtually. If you choose to participate virtually you will receive your shirt, medal and add-ons in the mail in early August. We would invite you to a facebook event and send out a link for your results!If you do not want to participate in 2021, or virtually, your option will be to receive a 100% event credit. This credit will come to you in the form of a coupon code for the amount of your entry fee + any add-on fees, and the code will not expire for 2 years. This code can be used on ANY RF Event in those two years. Codes will be issued by July 2, 2020.Your final option is To donate your entry money back to RF Events to help us keep the lights on as we work to shuffle ahead and survive, so we can be here for the future and create quality events that let you meet your goals and put your hard training to use.If no action is taken on your part your entire entry will roll over to 2021. If you would like to participate virtually, receive a 100% event credit, or to donate your entry money you can make those changes HERE by July 1, 2020.
We are devastated we won’t be invading Dearborn with you this year,
Until we run again, Randy, Anna, Mandy, Trevor, Gary, Jodi, Carrie, Amy, Dan, Ted, Chris, Kim and all of the amazing Volunteer Ground Control who work tirelessly to make this magic happen.
F.A.Q’S:
Why can’t you postpone again? – To date, we have canceled or postponed 13 events. This event in particular has a mounting list of roadblocks. We are digging ourselves into a hole that will take us an extended amount of time to dig out of. At this point we have hit the wall and our options are limited.
Why can’t you offer a refund? – We know what a delicate subject money is at this time, and we are attempting to be as transparent as possible in regards to why we are unable to offer a refund. A large majority of the planning and man hours go into the event well before race day; we spend a large portion of the projected income in setting up the event prior to registration opening, When our world was turned upside down from COVID-19, entry money came to a standstill. We then spent an additional amount of time re-setting up the event for July, re-permitting, making more non-refundable despots… for a second time. We are unable to provide a refund because the money is simply not there. We understand your anger and we are willing to talk through this with you.

Mini-Martian Marathon Update

Running Fit still plans on running the Mini-Martian Marathon on Saturday, July 25th. If you are registered and plan on running you need to do nothing but show up and run. If you do not plan on running you need to let them know by June1st that you would like to use your payment towards next year’s event. My understanding is that all registered runners receive emails about the event so this is not a surprise to you, but just in case I am attaching the email that was sent to me this morning.
