1.Purpose of the parley between both sides (what IS a parley?)
2.Summarize: Cassius and Brutus’ main argument/reasoning/mode of rhetoric
3.Compare to: Antony and Octavius’ main argument/reasoning/mode of rhetoric
4.Provide techniques used by each (evidence)
5. Evaluate: Who is more convincing? Why?

Honors-Lord of the Flies
Read chapters 1-3 for Wednesday, Dec. 7th.
Use post-its to track key events, characters, setting elements, symbolism, etc.
Attached is a chapter organizer and a note-taker you may find useful for use in class discussions, assignments, socratic seminar, essay planning, etc.
Extra Credit for Caesar
Dress like a Roman! Wear a toga (use a bed sheet) for your presentation of your modern day script for Act IV of Caesar tomorrow! It doesn’t matter if the rest of your group doesn’t participate. I’ll add two extra credit points to your score on this summative assessment:) Me fortis! faciam quodlibet quod necesse est!

HONORS–Finish character trait notes
Finish writing character scales in your notes with both good and bad traits for Cassius, Caesar, Brutus, and Antony. Look for synonyms for your chosen adjectives as well. This info. will help you comple Character Chains tomorrow!
ELA 3– 2nd/5th reading homework
READ ACT IV, sc.i p. 884-85. Determine traits for Antony (add to your notes with the other characters) and look for evidence!
Add Falling Action to your PLOT chart notes as well.

Homework–ACT III
Read the rest of the funeral speech scene (ii) and the mob scene (iii). Add rising action, climax and falling action to your plot note sheet for Tuesday.
Checking for understanding questions:
- What does Brutus say will happen to the Roman people if Caesar had remained alive? How does this parallel Act I?
- What does Brutus offer to do if the people desire it? Explain the parallel to Act I.
- How does Antony counter Brutus’ speech? Name at least 3 things he points out to refute Brutus’ point.
- Find example of irony in Antony’s speech.
- What REALLY motivates the people to switch allegiance from Brutus to Antony?
- Who arrives at the end of this speech and scene? Why is he important?iii
- Who is Cinna in this scene and what happens to him? How is this situational irony?
- What message (theme) is Shakespeare trying to make about the vengeance/war/mobs through this brief scene?
Extra Credit: Bring in a box of tissue TOMORROW for the class to use 🙂
