Ms. Sbeity and Miss Yandura’s Language Arts Class:

Agenda:

  1. Bellwork (1st and 6th hours turned in today; 4th and 5th will turn in Wednesday) ** Grammar quiz Wednesday!
  2. Finished the Journey of the Hero Vocabulary  ** Test Tuesday, Oct. 8
  3. Prepared to read epics and legends (textbook p.1001-1005)
  4. Paragraphs (constructed response to “My Left Foot”) were due today.  If you did not turn it in today, do so tomorrow for reduced credit.  It is a summative assignment!!!
  5. Bring SSR book tomorrow.  We will renew the books that were checked out in our media center.

  • We started class with SSR.
  • We edited the paragraphs that were due for homework.  See yesterday’s post.
  • We began the vocabulary of the “Journey of the Hero” and will continue with it Monday.
  • **** Rewrite the paragraph on “My Left Foot” and turn in Monday with the rough draft.

  • We completed the written portion of the test.
  • We watched part of our series “Extra”
  • No homework this weekend 🙂

We started set #2 of bellwork today.  We saw a video clip from the short story, “My Left Foot” and read the Prepare to Read on p. 166-167.  The author, Christy Brown, experiences an epiphany in his life so we discussed the meaning of “epiphany” and wrote a paragraph describing a time when we had one.

The tenth graders attended the anti-bullying assembly.  Project due and quiz tomorrow!

Ms. Sbeity and Miss Yandura’s Language Arts 3 Class:

Today we took our first grammar test and we finished our stations from yesterday (please see yesterday’s blog).  We ended class with SSR. 

 

Ms. Sbeity’s Spanish 2/3/4 Class:

Spanish 2:

We reviewed vocabulary and took a pretest on “ser” and “estar” (The test is Friday).  We also worked on our mini-projects (due tomorrow at the end of class).

We reviewed vocabulary in context, and we had conversations with three classmates.  Then we worked on p.209 #4,5 and p.211#7,8 along with our mini-projects (projects are due Friday).

Close & Critical Read(1)  Attachment

Ms. Sbeity and Miss Yandura’s Language Arts 3 Class:

We finished sharing as a class our “Talking to the Text” with our article on cerebral palsy.  We then split up into 4 stations according to the four “Close and Critical Reading” squares (attached).  We are using that strategy also with the article. 

**Tomorrow there will be a grammar test on the bellwork and grammar glossary. 

Ms. Sbeity’s Spanish Class:

Spanish 2: 

After bellwork, we used the verb “estar” to describe one’s feelings and location(Complete exercises A-D)

We are using our vocabulary to create and label a place setting with foods. *Due Thursday

It must include : all utensils, beverage, appetizer, main dish, 1 side dish, 1 dessert

** Friday there will be a quiz on applying “ser” and “estar”.

Spanish 3/4:

After bellwork, we completed a listening comprehension activity involving the vocabulary.

We started to create a poster that tells a visual story of our childhood activities. 

It must:

  • include eight pictures or drawings with a caption using the imperfect tense and current vocabulary.
  • be neat and colored.
  • be prepared and ready to present on Friday.
