Bellwork gave students practice graphing transformed quadratics, writing equations of transformed graph of quadratics, and describing the necessary transformations performed on one function that gives us another function.

The rest of the period we continued our discussion on Agilemind – Topic 3 – Transforming Functions – Exploring – Generalizing Transformations.

Hwk #15 is due on Monday, October 14 for hours 1&2, due on Friday, October 11 for hours 5&6.  Agilemind – Topic 3 – Transforming functions:  SAS3 – questions 8, 9, 10a,b.

Tuesday, October 8, 2019

Bellwork introduced the Parent Quadratic Function and its five main points.  Students then practiced graphing transformations of the Parent Quadratic Function.

Hwk #13 is due today

The remainder of the period we discussed transforming the Parent Quadratic Function using Vertex Form:  y = a(x-h)^2+k.

Hwk #14 is due tomorrow:

Agilemind – Topic 3 – Transforming functions.  SAS2 #18 a-c  AND  More Practice pages 1-3 from the Agilemind website.  For the problems from SAS2 pay attention to scales on axes and if the print in the workbook is hard to read you can always access the original Student Activity Sheets, in color, from the Agilemind website.

Monday, October 7, 2019

Bellwork introduced the Parent Absolute Value Function and gave students practice transforming it.

Hwk #12 is due today.

The remainder of the period we continued our discussion on transforming functions by beginning with transformations of the Parent Absolute Value Function.

Hwk #13 is due tomorrow.  SAS2 – Topic 3 – Transforming Functions – questions 5-7.

Friday, October 4, 2019

Bellwork introduced and gave students practice transforming a triangle on the x-y plane using four basic transformations.

Students were given an Alg 2 Workbook containing all the Student Activity Sheets.  Students can write in this workbook, taking classnotes, annotating, and doing some  of the homework assignments.  All of these Student Activity Sheets can also be found on the Agilemind website.

The remainder of the period we began our discussion on Topic 3:  Transforming Functions.

Hwk #12 .  Topic 3 – SAS1- questions 4, 9, 10.

Due Monday, October 7, 2019 for 1st and 2nd hours,   Tuesday, October 8, 2019 for 5th and 6th hours.

Wednesday, October 2, 2019

Bellwork gave students some review problems to prepare them for tomorrow’s test over Topic 2.

The remainder of the period students worked on a “quiz” set up on the Agilemind website.  This quiz will count as a 20 point Classwork grade and will help them review for the test.  The window on the quiz is open until 10:00 pm, Wed., Oct. 2, 2019.

Topic 2 Test

The test over Topic 2 will be given on Thursday, October 3, 2019

Students were given a sheet with some review for the test today.

Review for the Topic 2 Test: Go over your notes and inclass examples.   Go over homework Work on the review I gave you.   Look at the following Agilemind More Practice Problems: #’s 1, 4-6, 8-10, 12.   Review Agilemind material online

Tuesday, October 1, 2019

Bellwork gave students review for the Topic 2 Test which will be given on Thursday, October 3, 2019.

Students were also given some additional review for the Topic 2 Test which they can work on at home.

Hwk #11 is due today.

The remainder of the period we reviewed some more for the Topic 2 Test.  At the end of the period we began looking ahead at the next topic:  Topic 3:  Transforming Functions.

Monday, September 30, 2019

Bellwork gave students practice determining if the inverse of a given relation is a function or not.  They also practiced restricting the domain of a quadratic functions so that the inverse becomes a function, and listing the resulting range.

The remainder of the period we finished our discussion on Topic 2 by finding the vertex of parabolas in order to make restrictions on quadratic functions so that their inverses become functions.  Students were also introduced to the geometric definition of a parabola and how that relates to real-world uses of parabolic shapes.

Hwk #11 is due tomorrow.  SAS 4 – Topic 2 – questions 16 & 17
