Dear Parent/Guardian,
We hope that this post finds you and your loved ones in good health. Like you, we have been trying to adjust to the idea that life is going to be very different for some time. It seems that things are changing rapidly, and it can all be a bit overwhelming. While we are navigating these challenging times it will be important to practice good self-care and stay connected.
We are particularly mindful of the emotional and financial strain this situation puts on many of our students and families. Please know that although our building is closed, we continue to be available to provide resources and answer questions via email. We will do the best we can to answer emails within 24 hours Monday-Friday.
Families who are experiencing anxiety, fear and/or stress during this period of time who would like to speak to someone can contact the Dearborn Public Schools support hotline. There are two ways to reach out: by telephone at 313-827-8500 or by email at dss@dearbornschools.org.
Following is the link to the the COVID-19 Emotional Support Hotline Information Page: https://iblog.dearbornschools.org/smithcounseling/wp-content/uploads/sites/270/2020/03/social-support-hotline.pdf
If, however, you have an urgent mental health/safety concern for your student, please immediately call 911 OR go to your local hospital emergency room.
We miss seeing your ‘tween/teenagers. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.
Best Regards,
Nour Ismail and Kathy Weaver, O.L. Smith School Social Workers
