After drawing spider webs with rulers, 1st graders used texture plates to create rubbings and color their webs.  Then they created spiders by drawing a circle and 8 rectangles.  Carefully cutting them out was important.  Then they learned a folding technique to make the legs stick out.  We glued the body only to the web.
