Featuring local resident artists including:
Megan Nicole Czerwinski, Christina Evans, Michelle S. Gauthier, Carl George, Dan Gumina,
Darance Holland, Amy Libby, Ralph Parus, Kalette Shari, Yolanda Taylor
Featuring artwork from students from Miller and Maples Elementary Schools who will be exhibiting various collage artworks. At Miller, Mrs. Saad’s 1st grade students are creating self-portraits, 2nd graders, cityscapes, while 3rd grade students are using collage to make pizzas. At Maples Elementary, Mrs. Briggs is teaching 4th and 5th graders about artist Romare Bearden. Students are creating family and home collages. The students learn about two dimensional organic and geometric shapes, and show an understanding of symmetry while using their cutting and gluing skills to create their collages.
The word collage was first used in France in 1919 meaning “a pasting”, from the Old French coller – “to glue”, and from the Greek kolla, “glue”.
