VINCENT VAN GOGH!  Students learned about Van Gogh’s  great artwork and his tragic life by watching a movie.  Then they drew their own bedrooms in their sketchbooks.  Van Gogh’s very famous bedroom painting is on loan to the Detroit Institute of Arts from Paris and the 4th grade will be able to see it on their field trip at the end of April!  We talked about his painting and if we could tell how he thought about his bedroom by studying it.  Most thought he liked it because it was very neat and had a lot of art on the walls.  Students then drew their final drawing of their bedroom in Van Gogh’s style.  We took this a step further and students designed their ‘dream’ bedroom.  Some came up with some wild ideas like trampoline beds, soccer fields and hot tubs!
