School districts in Wayne County have placed a proposal on the November 8th ballot to provide added funding for our schools. It is the “Regional Enhancement Millage Proposal.”

If approved by the entire county, the 2 mil proposal will generate approximately $6.2 million from Dearborn but the District will receive $7.8 million in additional funding for our schools.  Money would go to local schools starting this year and the millage expires after six years.  Read on »

Dear Parents,

  • Parent Contracts have already been distributed to all middle school students and parents during Parent Teacher Conferences. If you did not receive your child’s report card, please contact the main office.  If a student was on a contract and the parent did not come to conferences, the school will be calling you to set up a meeting.  Elementary students will receive report cards and parent contracts (if applicable) during Parent Teacher Conferences on Nov. 10, 16 and/or 17.  For questions, please call the main office at 313 -827-6600.   • Salina Intermediate School was named an AVID model school in its second year of implementation! Congrats to all staff and students!  Keep up the excellent work.

“Halloween Message

In an effort to enjoy and celebrate Halloween at [Salina Intermediate School] appropriately, respectfully, and in accordance with the school dress code, we ask that students use the following guidelines when selecting a costume:

 

Ensure that the costume is school appropriate and does not disrupt the learning environment.

 

No masks or props.

 

No costumes that depict violence, alcohol or drugs.  No fake weapons or props.

 

No costumes that could be offensive. [i.e., ] a stereotype of someone’s culture, gender, heritage, or religion.

 

No clown costumes.

 

Students wearing questionable costumes may be asked to change into normal school attire.

AK Steel & Salina Intermediate PTA Community Meeting
