“Early Release Tuesdays resume for Dearborn Public Schools on Sept. 3, 2024.
Parents of students in kindergarten through eighth grade will again have the option of paying for childcare if they need their children to remain at school on those days until the normal release time.
On Early Release Tuesdays, students are dismissed 90 minutes earlier than usual. This additional time allows teachers to participate in professional learning communities, a form of professional development.
From September 2024 through May 2025, every Tuesday that there is school will be an Early Release Tuesday.
Parents interested in childcare on any or all of those days can sign their child up for Early Release Enrichment. The cost is $11 for the first child, $7 for the second child and $5 for any additional children. The program is available at every school for kindergarten through eighth grade students. Note that busing home is not available after the enrichment session.
Interested parents can sign up and pay at bit.ly/Tuesday Enrichment.
Children need to be signed up at least the Friday before that session to ensure staffing is in place. Students will have time for play, homework, and fun activities for the 90 minutes until the school’s regular dismissal time.
Early Release Enrichment is separate from Kids Club and 21st Century after school programs.
Last year, Dearborn Public Schools switched from late starts on select Wednesdays and half days about once a month to Early Release every Tuesday. Due to parent feedback, the district also started offering the Early Release Enrichment. About 140 students were using the program last spring.”
2. Morning Arrival Reminder: Breakfast is served beginning at 8:30 a.m. Student Supervision begins at 8:30. Note: Please do not drop off your child and leave prior to 8:30 a.m. Thank you in advance. When the weather gets colder, we will have indoor line-up. Currently, it is outdoor line up.
3. Attendance: Please send your child to school each day on time. It is very important that students arrive on time and enter their classroom with their peers and begin the daily routine.
4. Traffic @ arrival and dismissal times: It is important that all drives go slow on Lois Street. We have a raised crosswalk which helps, but, –we need all drives to drive slowly– please. It is recommended for parents and students to use the crosswalk when crossing the street.
5. Dismissal: At dismissal time, Lois Street turns into a one-way street for 15 minutes during dismissal. Please use caution when driving at dismissal. Thank you in advance.
6. Dress Code: i.e., footwear: All students are expected to wear tennis shoes. Slides and crocs with no backing, cannot be worn at school. This is for your child’s safety. Additionally, students are not allowed to change into cleats during recess. We also remind the students to wear their shoes at recess. Lastly, all soccer games are to be played on the grass/field. Students are not allowed to play soccer on the blacktop. Our lunch ladies will enforce this rule. Teachers and staff are expected to tell their students not to play soccer on the blacktop.
7. Lunch: All student lunches are free of charge. Please note: Students can also bring their own packed lunches and get a hot lunch as well, free of charge. Note: If a student would like an additional entrée though, he/she would need to pay $2.00. (Note: The first meal is free)
