Ice Age

Ice Age. Throughout its long history, Earth has warmed and cooled time and again. Climate has changed when the planet received more or less sunlight due to subtle shifts in its orbit, as the atmosphere or surface changed, or when the Sun’s energy varied. But in the past century, another force has started to influence Earth’s climate: humanity. What is Global Warming? Global warming is the unusually rapid increase in Earth’s average surface temperature over the past century primarily due to the greenhouse gases released as people burn fossil fuels. Temperatures are certain to go up further.

Earth’s temperature begins with the Sun. Roughly 30 percent of incoming sunlight is reflected back into space by bright surfaces like clouds and ice. Of the remaining 70 percent, most is absorbed by the land and ocean, and the rest is absorbed by the atmosphere. The absorbed solar energy heats our planet. Mohammad Ali Darwish says “ Global warming may possible jeopardies our world and all we are doing is adding additional dangers that may harm our planet such as GreenHouse Gasses.” Are we jeopardizing our planet by the increase in GreenHouse Gasses?

Millions of years ago we have went through five major Ice Ages in the Earth’s Past. As the temperature of the earth rises glaciers are melting and possibly will end up becoming a new Ice Age. Scientists predict there will be one coming in the near future; that’s if global warming stops, which it won’t. Ayah Berro says “ To think of another Ice Age is crazy and the fact that we have new technology that can’t fix what’s happening.” Since 1870, global sea levels have risen by about 8 inches.

Our Planet has been here for about 5 billion years!! To think something as Global warming will have such a big effect on us and the Earth itself. Mariam Shenaq quotes” I think that in the near future we will have another Ice Age and will probably be the worst one we have ever had.” Also, Zeinab Osseli says “ Global Warming may affect us ok but also animals as well.” Global warming could drive to extinction as many as 1 in 6 animal and plant species.

In conclusion, Global Warming is a very serious issue and if we don’t act now who knows what will happen in the near future. How much more will the Earth warm? How will Earth respond? Answering these questions is perhaps the most significant scientific challenge of our time.

  1. In my opinion I think that the Ice Age’s have changed the earth a lot. I think this because over time the Earth’s climate has changed as well as the sea levels and global warming too.

    • At first i was positive that humans were the main cause for climate change, but after doing some research I found out that there are people who debate that humans aren’t the main reason that temperature is rising. According to https://climatechange.procon.org/ there seems to be two different standpoints on this issue, and after reading this article it has changed my perspective on the cause of global warming.

  2. In My opinion, I believe that yes, Global warming has a lot of impact towards our planet. But i also believe that putting all the technology that we have come up with all together can make up a solution to predicting the next ice age. Over time our climate has changed due to waves and large storms also sea levels and i strongly suggest that’s were they should start researching.

  3. I think that what happened 400,000 years ago will happen again in 2025 because of global warming. I think this because if our world goes through global warming it will have to go in reverse climate and freeze everything that will be a big disadvantage because it will be taking our crops away and freezing our lakes and rivers that we will have nothing to eat or drink

  4. I learned that the more people use gases such as fossils fuel the world will continue to become warmer which can kill people and cause diseases that we don’t even know about it can also kill animals that we eat the more we put gases in our world the more harm we have caused to earth.

  5. This was great writing, especially since they have specific information unlike other writings. I also like how
the writer included opinions and not only one opinion from other people. And I also agree with most of their opinions. But all in all, really good writing and I do think that Ice Ages and Global Warming has impacted a lot on the Earth

  6. In my opinion humans are to blame for the global warming and if we don’t act now who knows what could happen to the Earth and all the species on it.

  7. In my opinion I think that the ice age has changed the earth. I think that overtime the ice age has change because of glaciers melting and this happens when the tempetchure has changed to a hotter temputcher. The climate has also changed over the time that the ice age has been around.

  8. I think that we should act know or we will have another ice age. I would say that because a ice age is very bad and dangers and also I think that there will be another ice age that we will have in the futcher.

  9. Natural changes on the earth have effected it a lot ice ages, global warming and much more. They still effect us today with out these events we wouldn’t be here today. These changes in the earth were very important. There will be more in the future but like they all played a role to make us so maybe there will be something in new the future.
