Boom! Crash! A teenager gets in a car accident. You’re eligible to get your segment 1 at the age of 14 years old and 9 months. Should the driving age increase to 21 years old? Most car accidents occur at the age of 16 to 20 years old. 1 in 5 of 16-year-old drivers has an accident within their first year of driving, according to dosomething.org. And also 16 years old have higher crash rates than any other age. While driving, most teens with their parents, have their seat belts. Other times most teens don’t wear seat belts while their parents are not with them.
According to cdc.gov, In 2013, 2,163 teens in the United States ages 16–19 were killed and 243,243 were treated in emergency departments for injuries suffered in motor vehicle crashes. Driving is one of the most hardest thing to do. Hawraa Beydoun, a 11th grade that has a driving license, stated, “ Driving is one of the hardest thing to do as a teenager. But I don’t think the age of driving should be increased to 21 years old. I had my permit since I turned 14 and 9 months.” she also added “ I think 16 is a great age for having your license.”
Some states allow teens to get their permits at the age of 15 years old and 6 months. In Michigan you can get your permit at the age of 14 and 6 months. If you have your permit, you can only drive with someone that is over 21 years old and that has a driving license. And when you turn 16, you’re able to get your driving licence. And other states, you’re able to get your driving license at the age of 18.
Batoul, a 11th grader that has her permit, stated “I think the driving age should not be raised to age of 21 years old. I got my permit at the age of 15 years old, and now I am 16 years old. I’m planning to get my driver license this summer”. She also added, “ If you want to go to college, you need someone to take you. Well you have your mom, but not all the time. Sometimes my mom is busy, so she can’t take me. So that’s why when I have my driving license, I could go myself.”
In conclusion most people think that the driving age should not be increased to 21 years old. They think this because sometimes teens need a car to do whatever they need to do. While other people think that the driving age should be increased to 21 years old. They think this because they are lots of teens out there that just get in car accident every time. And that most teens are not always that mature while driving. And 1 in 5 teens get in a car accident in the first year of driving.

making the age for driving to 21 will just make things harder for young adults
it will not let them have any responsibility and will be harder when they need to travel form school to work etc.
I personally do not think that the driving age should be increased to 21, because not all teens that are on the road are irresponsible so why punish them. When going to get your permit, or drivers licences the driving instructor should always make sure that the driver is 100% ready to get behind the wheel on their own, have you actually maybe stopped to think that they were not really ready and these harmful accidents were cause of false ratify’s from the instructor. So don’t change the driving age to 21 maybe just grade the students a little more roughly.
