Do bullies ever outgrow their former actions? Maybe not. You might think that grown ups are the ones that encourage children not to bully, but in this case, it’s the opposite. There are adults that bully in the workplace. “Its sad, ridiculous, and immature,” says Mrs. Seay who works at Unis Middle School as a Social Worker, expressing her experience with adult bullying.
You may not hear a lot about adults bullying, but it’s an issue throughout the world. “It happens in the workplace, adults being left out, not knowing what they did wrong,” says Mr.Blessing who is the Assistant Principal of Unis Middle School , giving a really good point about the adult victims in a bully situation.
In 2014 out of 100% adults, 20% have been bullied in the workplace, and 28% have been unaware of this problem. Studies show that 21% have witnessed adult bullying, while 23% have been aware. Currently, in the U.S 7% of the workers are being bullied. No one in the workplace should be left out.They call it a “workplace”, which is believed to be a place to work not only with yourself but with others. Over 60 million workers in the U.S, are affected by workplace bullying. Workers even quit their job because of the bullying that is affecting their present and future.
Some adult bullies even go as far as to bully their opposite gender. It is shown that 69% of bullies are men, and 60% of bullied targets are women. There are adult female bullies too, but most women bullies bully mostly by their gender. Bosses bully 56% of the time, which seems absurd! Co-workers bully 30% of the time! So the bosses bully more than their workers which is ridiculous! Who are the workers suppose to tell when they got a bully behind their back? Who’s suppose to protect the victim? Obviously not the boss, because he’s the bully!
“Bullying is usually when someone has more power than the other.” Narjis Alhacham who is an 8th Grader at Unis Middle School states, making a valid point. Most people understand that bullying occurs throughout schools, social media and any place involving people. The only problem is, student/adults don’t confront the bully. They’re either scared, or don’t wanna get involved. You have to tell someone, so this matter doesn’t repeat itself.
