Every football fan was excited for March 11th at 4:00 PM. That was the time NFL free agency started. Free agency is when a player’s contract with his team expires. Many fans are angry during free agency because their favorite players leave the team they like.

Golden Tate Press Conference After Signing With Detroit Lions
The Denver Broncos signed many free agents such as DeMarcus Ware, T.J. Ward, and Aqib Talib. The Broncos improved their average defense to an above average defense. They also replaced Eric Decker, who signed a 5 year,$39 million deal with the New York Jets, with Emmanuel Sanders. Broncos fans were delighted this offseason, but other fans, such as Pittsburgh Steelers fans, were not, because as mentioned before, their receiver Emmanuel Sanders signed a deal with the Broncos. Other teams that improved greatly were the New York Giants, New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and Oakland Raiders.
People have different opinions about free agency. Ebrahim Nahshal said,”[I like free agency] because it’s interesting to see athletes sign with different teams. Kassem Harb said,”[I like free agency] because my [favorite] team has a chance to get my favorite players. On the other hand, Ali Sobh, a Green Bay Packers fan, said,”[I don’t like free agency] because the Packers aren’t getting good players.
Cbssports.com made a list of the top free agents and Jairus Byrd, an ex-Bills safety, was number one. Jairus signed a six year,$56 million contract with $28 million guaranteed. That means he is getting an average of $9.3 million a year. Ex-Bronco Eric Decker signed a 5 year,$39 million deal with the Jets. Many NFL analysts are saying that he will turn out as a bust. The New York Jets signed him to be their number one receiver, which he is not. He may turn out to be a bust and they have already paid him his guaranteed money.
NFL free agency is exciting for fans, but nail-biting for NFL general managers. Teams may sign players that will eventually be busts. Some teams improve and others get worse.
