There is a HW tonight!  Read the other WEDNESDAY post. Talent show students may turn in this HW AFTER spring break with no late penalty.

Just a reminder – 1st, 3rd, and 6th hours will have an Educational Celebration.  Please pack everything you will need, because you should NOT call home if you forget something.

REMINDER:

Educational Celebration THURSDAY for 1st, 3rd, and 6th hour. Please pack everything you need so that you DO NOT need to call home because you forgot something.

HW:

  1. “Tree Knowledge” – four types of sentences
  2. Finish Margaret Bourke-White timeline. Due tomorrow.
  3. 4th hour and 5th hour – EDUCATIONAL CELEBRATION. Make sure you pack everything you need and bring it to school with you.

You WON’T be in trouble if you do a little extra work on your HW.  Maybe you could write four sentences on the BACK of your HW paper.  Write one of each kind of sentence.

97% chance of a quiz tomorrow.  Re-read and study “Margaret Bourke-White” biography (short read #8).

If you wanted to finish the bell work timeline at home, the dates are:

  • 1904
  • 1930 (NOT 1930’s)
  • 1934
  • 1936
  • 1937 (two important things happened in 1937)
  • 1945
  • 1950s (this one could also have two)

HW:

  • Read and annotate M-STEP Short Read #8 (biography).
  • Answer ONLY #1 Part A and Part B – use QAR. You DO NOT have to explain wrong answers for Part B. Your choice for Part B is what you should underline in the text.
  • DON’T answer #2, but be ready to discuss what you THINK is the right answer and why the wrong answers are wrong.

Click below view and/or print the full text and questions #1 and #2.

WHAT IS A WINNER?

You might normally associate a winner with a contest, a game, or a sport. But can you also be a winner when you’re not competing with other people? If so, how? Lance Armstrong faced two very different challenges and came out a winner in both.

SKETCH IT [computer paper or poster]:

Do you remember a time in your life when you felt like a winner? Maybe you won a spelling bee or achieved something that no one else ever had. Perhaps you faced a fear or a challenge. Create a sketch of the moment and include a SHORT PARAGRAPH that describes what is happening. Be ready to share your sketch with the class.

NOTE: Green triangle vocab was due in class (bottom of page 815). The SKETCH IT could be finished for homework.
