March 26 – Daily Lessons

Alrighty – now you know I always say it is ok to make mistakes as long as you learn from them right? I hope you remember me saying that. And I know you have to be aware that how we are doing school is totally new – never been done before stuff – right??? And we are learning as we go along –right?? This is new and crazy for the district, all teachers and you guys. Well, it seems that IXL is great site that we will continue to use BUT the expectations set for tomorrow may have been too much. I can understand and deal with that – no problem – thanks to the students who let me know. Let’s make a deal. How about we say you have to Monday night to get those assignments done? We are going to hit some bumps but as long as you are seriously trying (and not “fake trying”) and your parents see you trying then we will work together to make it manageable – but for 5th grade near the end of year. Don’t expect it to be super easy and fun – it’s school work after all.

Enough of that – now enjoy a poetry break–

MATH

Warning…today’s lesson is not that easy. You may want to watch this twice.

Carefully do Zearn – be patient and think really hard.

REALLY READ AND HI-LIGHT THE HOMEWORK HELPER -this lesson is tough.

Do Succeed – keep the homework helper handy – you will need it.

SOCIAL STUDIES

You need to read two sections in the Online book and then summarize the main ideas of each section in googleclassroom.

Next week we start the Revolution!

SCIENCE

Only half the class sent me their picture from yesterday – so if you already sent yours you have no science – if you didn’t do it yesterday – get busy!!

READING

First make sure you have at least 100 knowledge points for this week (remember to set the dates). Some of you are showing reading levels that are way below 5.7grade level. Please ask a parent or older sibling to help you if your grade level is below 5th grade. Show your parent your grade level – do NOT be embarrassed your parent loves you even more than I do. They will help you.

Read your chapter book for 30 minutes. Write the main event and two supporting details and then tell me your favorite part from everything you read about this week. Next week we start character comparisons.

DO SOME IXL

NOW MY DAILY ADVICE – TODAY IT IS MORE OF A FAVOR THAT I AM ASKING YOU. PLEASE DO ME A FAVOR – IF A DAY GOES BY AND I DON’T REPLY TO ONE OF YOUR EMAILS DON’T BE MAD OR GET HURT FEELINGS…SEND IT TO ME AGAIN. I HAVE WAY MORE THAN 50 EMAILS A DAY COMING FROM THE DISTRICT, OTHER TEACHERS, OUR PRINCIPAL, EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS, THE STATE, PARENTS, AND STUDENTS. I WOULD NEVER EVER IGNORE AN EMAIL FROM YOU OR YOUR PARENT. BECAUSE THINGS ARE SO NEW AND CHANGING SO FAST I SOMETIMES MISS AN EMAIL OR IT GETS GROUPED WITH SOMETHING ELSE. THIS IS HARD FOR ME TOO – AND YOU ALREADY KNOW I AM FAR FROM PERFECT (REMEMBER THE TIME I FELL OUT OF MY SANDAL). JUST REMEMBER I CARE FOR YOU GUYS SO, SO, SO MUCH AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO GET BACK TO EVERYONE QUICKLY – BUT IF I DON’T… EMAIL ME AGAIN. MISS YOU GUYS!!
