Ms. Szalai's 5th Grade

Hello Everyone,

I understand that yesterday’s math was difficult for many of the students. Unfortunately with the “newness” of the new math program some of the topics were not thoroughly covered last year. This was to be expected, this is an issue now though because the kids are struggling. I took today and slowly retaught the lesson and we practiced in class. For homework today the students have a worksheet instead of book work. They should open their book to what we did in class and model after it if needed. In order to be successful in this unit all students need to know “place value” to the “thousandth” of a whole number (.01, .01, .001). I am looking for some online sites that will help with this.

Tonight the student’s need to:

1. Math – worksheet
2. Spelling – five times each
