March 18 – Daily Lessons
Okie Dokie Everyone – Hope you all had a chance to go outside and enjoy the sun while it lasted, it looks like we have some rain heading our way for the next couple days. I am so happy to see that almost everyone is doing the assignments – it will make next year so much easier for you.
I am really getting tire of feeding Randall – I’m used to you guys doing that for me. I should have sent him home with one of you!
Today there is some math, reading, and science…you are so so so lucky!!
MATH:
First look out a window and find a tree. Look at where the branches meet the trunk. Do you see all the acute angles?? Nature is incredible and when we have time to notice things it is crazy how math and science meet. (Ummmm for those of you who forgot an acute angle is an angle that measures less than 90 degrees.) Now find a pine tree – look at where the branches meet the trunk. Do you see right angles? I know weird – right?! Nature again…incredible! (Ummmmm right angles are 90 degrees-fyi).
Now for the real fun stuff:
Watch the really cool video-
Do Zearn Mod. 6 lesson 3
Do Succeed Mod. 6 lesson 3
READING:
Today I need everyone to do Readtheory for a half hour, by Friday everyone needs to earn 100 knowledge points. You know how to set the calendar so set the starting date for today and the ending date March 20. You need 100 knowledge points by the 20th.
Later tonight maybe after dinner read your chapter book for a half hour. After you read go to yesterday’s assignment in googleclassroom. Double space after what you typed in yesterday and type in a main event and a couple supporting details (remember to type in the date and pages you read).
SCIENCE:
Go to Readworks and read the next two passages. The first one is The Exosphere and the second is The Troposphere. You need to type in 3 -4 complete sentences about what you learned from each one.
Go outside and look up and try to appreciate that we are surrounded by the exosphere and the troposphere. Science is amazing and cool isn’t it.
For those of you still working on your constellation project, please remember to include the following information:
- definition of a constellation
- the name of your constellation and the family it belongs to
- where can you see it … what part of the earth is it visible
- when can you see it…what season is it most visible
- the myth or story behind your constellation
- pictures of your constellation (if you are doing it on a poster or paper you can draw a really nice picture
- at least two interesting facts about your constellation
REMEMBER IT HAS BEEN A COUPLE DAYS THAT WE HAVE BEEN IN OUR HOUSES NOW AND WE ARE NOT USED TO IT. WE ARE NORMALLY GOING TO SEVERAL PLACES IN ONE DAY. WARNING WARNING WARNING….YOU MAY START TO FEEL GRUMPY (THAT’S NORMAL). THE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO IS COUNT TO 5 (OR MAYBE 5 MILLION) BUT STAY AS COOL AS A CUCUMBER. BE AS SOFT SPOKEN AS A BUTTERFLY WHISPERING A SECRET. WHEN YOU WANT TO YELL AT A SIBLING OR COMPLAIN TO A PARENT -INSTEAD SHOCK THEM AND TELL THEM THAT YOU LOVE THEM FROM THE BOTTOM OF YOUR HEART – THEN SMILE AND GO IN ANOTHER ROOM. THEY WON’T KNOW WHAT TO DO – THEY WILL BE AS SURPRISED AS A TEACHER WHO JUST WON THE LOTTERY!! (did you catch all the similes – pretty clever don’t you think?)
HAVE A GOOD ONE!!
