March 14
Hello Everyone,
We are still getting directions from the district on how to guide students and families through this precautious time. The first thing that I ask is that you make certain to have your student sit with you and read my blog everyday.
I will do my very best to post every weekday evening before 9:00pm (starting Sunday evening for Monday’s assignments) about the next day’s assignment so you can go over the next day’s assignments with your child just in case you need to go to work. The district has instructed us to track the assignments and record those not doing assignments and make contact with those families.
All of this is new and there may be changes made, but this is what we have in place for now.
The following are some of my PERSONAL SUGGESTIONS:
- create a quiet work space away from the TV, cell phones, and lots of activity
- set a consistent time of day for school work to be done
- do the work EACH DAY – do not let days go by without work being completed
- have all the books brought from school at this work area ready to go
- set up area with paper, pencil box, computer – this way there is no excuse for wandering around the house
- no food at work station
- if there are any questions email me – students or parents can email me szalaim@dearbornschools.org
Personal note to my students. Parents please make sure your child reads this:
On a snow day I am so happy to be home and to enjoy it. This time off is unwanted by myself and I will really truly miss you guys. I will do my best to make things clear for you. Please be kind to your siblings and family members and listen to your parents. Please be mature enough to know your parents may be a little stressed out so listen the first time they ask you to do your school work – it is not a choice. Remember you guys are one of my best classes ever, I am proud of all of you and you guys can do this — so please do all the assignments and do not fall behind. You can email me with any questions, I will check my email many times throughout the day. And in case you are wondering….there will still be no work assigned on weekends:)
