Hello Families,

A permission slip for the next field trip is coming home (I am still holding on to the Planetarium’s for when we go). This field trip is a “Howard tradition” to Pewabic Pottery. The students get to make a tile for either Mother’s Day or as a memory of Howard.

During math today I noticed that many students are not applying what we are learning to their homework (Succeed). They are doing things “a different way”. We talk about this all time and I explain that while there are other ways to solve problems – they need to apply and use what we do in class. It is important because it helps for a smooth transition. All the students have a note stapled to last night’s homework that needs to be signed and returned. It is NOT meant for any negative consequences – it is just that I need help from home to remind everyone to follow directions and the method it is being taught.

Friday is Valentine’s Day. The students may bring cards and candy as long as there is enough for everyone. There will be juice and donuts provided. The students can also bring games to play in the afternoon.

Tonight any math for lesson 6 needs to be completed and “theme” papers from reading.
