Ms. Szalai's 5th Grade

Hello Families,

I am so sorry I forgot to post yesterday. I had a training meeting at Henry Ford Elementary 4:15 – 7:00 (I know …no excuse). Yesterday the majority of the students took home the first topic quiz. A few students need to “fix up” a couple things with me then I will send it home. Everyone should have theirs by tomorrow. Many “warm-ups” came home yesterday as well. These warm-ups help show me strengths and weaknesses so I know what to focus more on as they come up. As always if you ever have any questions please email me. Please look over their math homework everyday – our first “mid-module test” will be Friday.

I gave my last DRA today!!! Some of the students need to finish their part of it and then we are off to our normal life in our 5th grade classroom. It looks like by Monday we will be as normal as we can be:).

I have taken on a “teaching cadet” student from Dearborn High School. This is part of a new teacher training program for high school seniors. She will be in our classroom Monday and Tuesday from 1:30-3:30 and Wednesday 1:30-2:30. We are very happy to have Ms. Phadtima join us!

Today for homework the students need make certain the following are complete:

• Math – Succeed lesson 7 #1 and 2
• Math – Zearn lesson 7
• Math – Practice p. 17 (complete incomplete work)
• Social Studies – finish the 6 word vocabulary foldable
• Spelling – 5 times each due Thursday (words are stapled in their planner)
• Read
