Bellwork gave students practice using what they now know about end behavior, # of x-intercepts, and # of extremes of polynomials to find a good “window” on the graphing calculator in order to be able to see the “whole” polynomial and all of its characteristics.

The remainder of the period we continued discussing Topic 5:  Analyzing Polynomial Functions – Exploring “Long-term behavior and real zeros”.

Hwk #24 is due Friday, November 8, 2019:

Agilemind website – Topic 5 – Analyzing Polynomial Functions – Guided Practice 1-11.

You’ll need to look up the formulas for Volume of a Cylinder and a Sphere for a some of the questions.

Monday, November 4, 2019

Bellwork gave students practice determining the end behavior of polynomials by knowing the degree and leading coefficient.

Hwk #23 is due today.

The remainder of the period we began discussing Topic 5 – Analyzing Polynomial Functions; Exploring “Long-term Behavior and Real Zeros”

No hwk assignment today

Friday, November 1, 2019

Bellwork was a logic questions for the students to work on.

The remainder of the period we summarized the relationship between degree, leading coefficient, and end behavior of polynomials.  We also began Topic 5 on Agilemind:  Analyzing Polynomial Functions.  We went through the Overview and Exploring “Concavity”.

Hwk #23 is due on Monday, November 4, 2019

Topic 5 – SAS2 Problem #8 a,b,c AND Agilemind website – Topic 4 More Practice 1 & 3

Wednesday, October 30, 2019

Bellwork gave students practice finding the degree and leading coefficient of polynomials in factored form and expanded form.

Hwk #22 is due today.

The remainder of the period we summarized how the end behavior of a polynomial is determined by the degree (even of odd) and leading coefficient (pos or neg).  We finished the period by reviewing for tomorrow’s Topic 4 Test.

Tuesday, October 29, 2019

No Bellwork today, students took a quiz over Topic 4.

After the quiz students worked on an Exploration to discover the relationship between the degree, leading coefficient, and end behavior of polynomials and their graphs.

Hwk #22 is due tomorrow:

Finish the End Behavior Exploration including Part 3, a summary of how the degree, leading coefficient, and end behavior are related in each group.

Monday, October 28, 2019

Bellwork reviewed building and interpreting a polynomial from a real-life situation.

Students picked up review for the Topic 4 Test which will be given on Thursday, October 31, 2019.  There will be a short quiz tomorrow over Topic 4 on the Agilemind website.

Hwk #21 is due today.

The remainder of the period we reviewed for the Topic 4 Test.

Friday, October 25, 2019

Bellwork gave students practice determining whether a function is ODD, EVEN, or NEITHER, and gave them practice find and interpreting Average Rate of Change.

Hwk #20 is due today.

The remainder of the period students worked on a Classwork problem that applies what they’ve learned about polynomials to a real-life situation.

Hwk #21 is due on Monday, October 28, 2019

Finish Classwork sheet from today

Agilemind website – Topic 4 – Guided Practice #’s 1-10

Thursday, October 24, 2019

Bellwork gave students practice sketching a polynomial using intervals of increasing/decreasing, information about extremes, and information about intercepts.

The remainder of the period we discussed Topic 4 – Introduction to Polynomials; Exploring “Deepening your understanding of quadratics and cubics”.  We discussed the ideas of Odd and Even Functions and Average Rate of Change of a polynomial.

Hwk #20 is due tomorrow and has two parts:

1. Agilemind website – Topic 4 – Introduction to Polynomials.  More Practice #’s 11-15

2. Agilemind Workbook- Topic 4 – Introduction to Polynomials.  SAS4 – questions 17, 18
