Highlights for the week

We have been having fun learning through songs and games, and especially songs fitting for the month of October. Some classes have experienced “falling leaves” while moving a blue canopy over theirs heads. Others have played games passing a broomstick (short pool noodle) around the room. We have recited and performed rhythms using icons (pictures/stickers on a strip) and created notated patterns in the Quaver program to play on instruments.

We have so much to learn and many fun ways to show our progress. Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 Montessori can continue the learning experience from home using the Quaver Music program. The students have a direct link through their district Clever account.

Our 4th and 5th grade students perform pumpkin rhythms through our Quaver Music application.

Music excitement this week

Here are a few photos of just some of the things we have been doing in music class this week at Howe.

A Beautiful Thank You Note

This morning I received a beautiful thank you email from a family I have never met. They found my site while searching for music resources to use while learning from home. The thank you letter was very heart-warming and started my day off with a ray of sunshine. 🌞 Since they have been using resources from my page they wanted to share a resource with me to possibly add to my page.

Here is the Piano Resource they so graciously shared with me. 😊🎶

And, D. H., for your young flutist, here are two of my newest discoveries. Emmanuel Pahud is a great flutist. Search out any of his videos just to watch and be inspired. And my friend, Jeff Zook, also has great resources.

To A. H., M.H (aka K. H.), and D. H. thank you for your kindness. I wish you all the best.

Musically,
Mrs. Celeste Reed

Welcome Back!

Are you all as excited as I am to begin a new school year? I know this year looks quite a bit different than last year but it can still be very wonderful. We are all switching over to Schoology so I will not be using my blog any more.

An update on my schedule: I am happily teaching general music classes at Maples and Howard this year. I am excited to be teaming up with my friends, Mrs. Meyers and Mrs. Bagnall.

I wish all of my students from last year and beyond the best. I hope you all have a great year of learning. Please keep in touch and let me know how you are doing.

We are all hard at work learning the new technology.

This week I would recommend clicking on the photo that is on the left in my virtual classroom (see diagram below). This will open the Google music Chrome pages. In a previous post, I asked you to click on the Monkey image for some fun with rhythms. This time I would like you to click on all images and have fun exploring!
