  • SLOT-Classify the 5 Elements of a short story using a Tree Map. The first element that was introduced is characters. We will continue with the other four over the course of this week. You are completing the Tree Map with information from “The Most Dangerous Game.”                         Guiding Question-What are the 5 elements of a short story evident in “The Most Dangerous Game.” Frame Question-Where did I get my information from? Keep the Tree Map in the Bellwork section of your binder.

  • MDG-Begin watching Disturbia. Complete Plot Diagram Flow Map as you watch the movie.         Guiding Question-What events pertain to the plot? Frame Question-Where did I get my information from? Respond to Exit Ticket. Plot diagram is due on the last day of the film.

Due to the early dismissal today, I am postponing the test covering “The Most Dangerous Game” to Tuesday, October 14th. I would advise you to still use this weekend to study and finish the reading and any of the work that goes along with the short story.

Hours 1-3-You may turn in today’s assignments on Tuesday.

Hours 4 and 6– You may turn in Thursday’s work on Monday and today’s work on Tuesday. Your SLOT Quiz will be on Monday. You must also remember to submit your cardmarking #1 participation form on Monday.

Participation Forms for Cardmarking #1 Due Today!

  • SLOT-Analyze the 6+1 Traits of Conventions and Presentation. Add the most important elements of each trait to your tree map. Make sure you are looking at the 6-exceptional column only!

  • SSR-Honors Only: Read novel for 10 minutes.
  • MDG-Read pgs. 19-27 of “The Most Dangerous Game”. Complete a Triple Entry Journal for pages 19-27 as you read. LA 1-You must have at least 2 examples for inferences and 3 examples for the talk to text column. HLA1-You must have at least 4 examples for inferences and 5 examples for the talk to text column. Once you reach page 23, you will begin a bubble map describing General Zaroff. Guiding Question-How would I describe General Zaroff? F.O.R. Question-Where did I get my information from? You must have a minimum of bubbles. Inside the frame of the map, for each of the bubbles, write and cite the lines from the text that support your description.

Reminder-Homework due on Tuesday when you return from the break. Submit the annotated short story, “The Story of an Hour” and your completed narrative four square. They should be stapled together and submitted to the tray before the bell rings! Enjoy your mini vacation!
