Who would want more sleep? Maybe all of the students that are not getting close to any sleep for school. A lot of people think that waking up at 7 a.m. is a little too early for most kids. Some teachers think that this would cause most students to get bad grades and that they will not be focused, but many people still believe that waking up early will actually help your brain, and can help you learn much faster.
First of all, schools should start a little later than 7 a.m. Schools should all start at least an hour later because not getting enough sleep can affect you. According to Sleepfoundation.org, Not getting enough sleep can limit your ability to listen, can lead to you forgetting important information such as someones name, or even forgetting your homework at home. Another bad thing is that not enough sleep can lead to aggressive or inappropriate behavior such as yelling at your friend for asking you for some help with something. This is why schools should start later, as all of these can lead to failure in school.
Ali Elzaghir, an 8th Grader at Unis Middle School said what he thinks about schools starting too early. “Waking up early for schools always makes me very tired and unfocused.” He also said, “I believe most of my grades are dropping because I’m not focused, and so I can’t pay attention. I think school should start one hour later every day.” Ali Kamal, a 9th grader at Fordson High School said, “I think if school didn’t start so early I could be doing so much better in my classes. I even think I could probably get all my grades to an A.” Kamal adds, “I think I am always too tired to focus and so I can’t really focus at all when I am tired.”
However, some teachers thought that waking up early for school was a bad idea. Summer Abdallah, a teacher at Lowery Middle school, said, “I think students are not being affected at all. I think that students are being helped by waking up early, as many studies have shown that waking up early can help the brain memorize things much faster.” Fatme Faraj, the principal at Maples Elementary School, said, “I think that students will benefit from waking up early and they will get used to waking up early in high school.” she adds, “I think waking up early can also help students focus a lot better, and improve their grades.”
To conclude, there are many reasons schools should start a little later. A lot of people argue that school is starting too early, while others say school is starting at a perfect time. Due to recent studies waking up too early has been proven to affect you both positively and negatively.

I definitely think that schools should start an hour later then the usual time. I agree with what Ali Elzaghir said “Waking up early for schools always makes me very tired and unfocused” because it does make many students unfocused and tired and if they are in those types of stages they will forget everything they are learning in class because they will total space out from there tiredness. I know this because I have dealt with this sort of thing I sometimes even fall asleep in class because I am usually late up studying.

I think kids need to go to sleep way earlier because the average hours kids are suppose to get are 8-10 hours and kids are getting like 5 hours of sleep and the less sleep you get the more you forget and kids do this when testes are the next day so get your right amount sleep and go to sleep at 9 you will wake up feeling great.
