Many kids around the world don’t have an education because they live in an environment that does not have any schools. They lack the education that is needed in everyday life. This amazing organization called Pencils of Promise changes that.

  Many people are asking “What is Pencils of Promise?”. Pencils of Promise is a organization that helps change the world by building quality schools and sustainable education programs for people in need. “The organization believes that every child should have access to education”. said Emily Varni, development coordinator for Pencils of Promise. They have Guatemala, Laos, and Ghana teams that work with those certain countries. “We build classrooms in a community (usually in those countries) where kids don’t have any school infrastructure” said Carolyn Scorpio, a operations team member for Pencils of Promise’s Guatemala team.

  This organization helps in so many different ways. The main part is building the schools for the children. Before this organization, when the kids wanted to get an education, they usually had to do it while sitting under a tree, in 90 degree weather, and sit on the floor, which was really dirty. This organization helps by giving the children the right supplies to write and to read with. “Part of what we do in this organization is build school infrastructure so kids are excited about going to school and learning and so teachers also have quality environment in which to teach” said Carolyn scorpio,operations team member for Pencils of Promise’s Guatemala team.

The first celebrity  involved is Justin Bieber. Justin is supporting this non profit organization by speaking out about it and running ads for the charity and its campaign ‘Schools4All’. Justin takes part in charity funds,raising galas. He also got the chance to build a school in Guatemala.

Actress Sophia Bush also takes part in Pencils of Promise. Sophia raised $30,000 for Pencils of Promise to build another school. A lot of times, Sophia uses her fame to help pencils of promise grow.

  This organization doesn’t only help out the people in need but it brings people together for a great cause. “We have fundraisers from all over the world supporting Pencils of Promise. It’s almost amazing to see the different things people do to raise money to bring students in Ghana, Guatemala, and Laos access education.” said Emily Varni, development coordinator for Pencils of Promise. “I first learned about Pencils of Promise on the internet and I was immediately impressed and I knew that I wanted to be apart of it” said Carolyn Scorpio, operations team member of the the Pencils of Promise Guatemala team.

  How you could get involved in donating? It’s easy, go to the Pencils of Promise website and donate money.All profits go toward building another school or getting the supplies for a school. In my opinion, everyone should get involved in this organization because everyone deserves decent education no matter what kind of environment you live in.

  In conclusion, Pencils of Promise is an amazing organization that helps kids have a better education. Thanks to Pencils of Promise, they could excel in school and have the same type of education we have in America.
