The Qualities of Cats

Have you ever wondered about cats and what hobbies they typically do? The qualities that they have make people eager to adopt a cat. Most cats are playful, loving, and affectionate. Pet lovers crave when pets are involved with their owners. The qualities they hold depend on their current mood.

When cats are happy, they often purr because they are comfortable and safe. When they feel unsafe or uncomfortable, they can become aggressive. Steven Rios says, “I think cats lash out because sometimes they feel scared or unsafe in our environment.” Cats have many hobbies. They love observing the world as it passes, such as sunsets and nature. They also love to go outside and soak themselves in the sun.

Cats’ sleeping schedules are very strange. Cats love to sleep, which is what they mostly do in their lives. An average cat sleeps for about 15 hours per day. While cats sleep for 15 hours per day, kittens are very different. Since kittens are still growing, they sleep for about 20 hours per day. They sleep around twice as much as we do! Rama Asad mentioned that she thought, “I think cats like to sleep so much because most cats don’t like to be around people.”

A cat’s appetite is very different from a human’s. Cats don’t eat much but still eat small amounts of food throughout their waking hours. Cats crave milk, which is ironic because cow milk is bad for cats. There are a bunch of cartoons and shows that show cats drinking milk when in reality, they shouldn’t. The average times for cats to usually eat meals are at dawn and dusk. The reason they like to eat at dawn and dusk is because those are their hunting hours and when they usually catch prey.

Have you ever wondered why cats and dogs seem to be natural enemies? Cats and dogs often don’t get along because of their different social behaviors and communication styles. Dogs are usually more social and curious, while cats are more independent and territorial. This can lead to misunderstandings and conflicts between them. Diana Hassan also mentions, “They probably feel intimidated by larger animals. They could also get very jealous, for example, if their owner owns a dog, and gives attention to the dog.”
